pondering on ordering some as when we go out its usually a 170-200 mile day. before anyone says you need a touring bike..... heard these are easy to fit and make the ride much more comfortable, also not really noticeable from the standard clip ons . think you have to order from America roughly £200 Thanks in Advance Steve
yip, i have helibars fitted, piece o piss to fit if you take your time, and make a big difference on yer wrists and can still get down and hang off easy enough when you want to Daz
I had them on my 04, local dealer fitted them for me, and said it was a bit of a pain getting the grips off, otherwise easy enough. Although I got mine from the states, Bykebitz in Yatley do them these days.
lol ive seen the difference, think its 1 3//4 higher and 1 inch closer to you. so not noticeable to normal folk. apparently makes a big difference tho. im not ready for an Fjr1300 etc just yet, maybe next year............................!
Aye I got mine sent over by my sister from America, but you can buy in the uk, more expensive in the uk of course, they are very good imo, and not noticeable until you ride the bike, easy to fit, I replaced my brake lines because they are very close to being too tight but not necessary, gel seat and helibars=well comfy, done GIRVAN to Silverstone for the GP last year in the one day and was champion
I had the more expensive Gilles Variobars fitted to my Blade Steve. Proper nice bito kit and fully adjustable to your desired angle. http://www.gillestooling.com/cms/shop/products
I fitted some, and they have transformed the bike. Before I was getting wrist discomfort after an hour, now I can ride all day with no pain at all. They also allow me to sit upright if I slide forward, so going through town I can change riding position which adds to long term overall comfort, highly recommended.
Not to everyone's taste but I did a top yoke conversion on my old bmw s1000rr and loved it. I've yet to ride the sp like this yet but I'm sure it'll be awesome .
The riding position (bars / pegs) is slightly different on the 2014 onwards bikes - so see how you get on with it standard first. I've done 300+ miles in a day with standard bars / pegs and wrists have been fine. Having said that, I suffer with the knees on long trips!
I reckon a lot of you guys that suffer with wrist/back problems just need to fit "stompgrips" or something like?, you can grab on the bike with your legs then and as very little weight goes on your wrists or through your arms, therefore NO wrist ache, NO neck or back ache
Didn't realise, are the pegs and bars different from my 13my blade to the 15my blade. I've yet to pick the bike up so I haven't noticed ? I heard somebody mention that the sp blade bar position is different to the standard bike. I'll have to see what the bike is like, if I end up buying some new clip owns , expect I can do it myself with just a few tools and a torque wrench. As Honda will be charging £60 hour labour. Hopefully the cables would all be fine
2014 model onwards! it's only by a few mm pegs are higher and slightly further back, and bars are raked out a little more....
I think the standard bike is the same as the 12/13 but the SP has lower bars. I find the Blades footrests quite high compared to most of my previous bikes. The old knees ache a bit.
i had a high handlebar conversion on my 04 for a while , replaced with lsl tourmatch now On street use is more near one of my naked bikes , not so high not that low
