I need a battery and charger for my Canon 5D.

Noticed on eBay you caxn buy a new battery and charger for £10 each - from HongKong (look very original and the listing states original) but more then likely they are not

So i found some for sale in the UK - and again its got me thinking...are these original? or am i just being paranoid?

I've got a 7D mate and my spare battery was £60. If it seems too good to be true it usually is,these Chinese copiers put more emphasis on making it look right than work right. Wouldn't trust them in my expensive DSLR and wouldn't recommend them to anyone either.

Chinese and genuine don't normally go hand in hand for things like that.

Absolutely bugger all. Well unless Trading Standards catch them as they would be classed as counterfeit.

There have been many reports of cheap chinese mobile phone charger spontaneously catching fire. I would imagine the cheap camera battery chargers go through the same shoddy QA/testing processes. The bottom line is they probably wouldn't pass EU safety testing. I would avoid if it were me....

Lots of UK sellers sell the same cheap Chinese stuff but with a huge mark up as they think people will trust them since it advertised as UK seller.

For the sake of a couple quid I'd buy from currys,it's guaranteed genuine and if it did need replacing under warranty prob a lot less hassle.
