Thinking of getting a 400cc sportkbike for next year, only want to spend a couple of grand. Needs to be something I can still have fun on but something that won't easily get me arrested- like a fireblade haha Anyone had any experience with one of the above bikes? What do they handle like?
They handle amazingly for their age. Rvf prob a better bike but I prefer the vfr (why I still have mine) Way way down on power from your r6 and tbh you'll struggle to get a good one for that money. They are going up in value!! For similar money I'd look for an early r6 or cbr tbh mate.
Yeah but if I get a 600 its too tempting to ride like a nutjob. Would have more fun trying to keep up with my dads zzr on a 400
Mate you'll get nicked just the same! They are good for 130 mate.... And an older r6 etc aint much quicker. But they are great investments and awesome bikes but just be careful when buying, lot of grey molested bikes out there. And a clean one will be £3k plus
Most 400 are Japanese imports, so don't know the true history. And many are owned by young dudes (in the past anyway) who don't look after them the way they should and are thrashed to an inch of their life I know - I was that young dude! Ha
I went on a track day With VFR 400's at (Cadwell I think), many years ago. I was used to fast sports bikes, and was blown away with the handling. Mike.
Here you go yt best ones are fetching big money these days.... Really need to get mine sorted That said they're are plenty about that need a bit of tlc so something to tinker with maybe?
Thanks mate....Didn't keep for investment mate, I love it!! Will never sell it. Needs some tlc though. Photos make it look better
Yep great fun just a bugger to find a good one these days. Currently sornd and needing an MOT but will get that fixed soon. Most get left sitting around for a while which can cause a few running issues but nothing a good test ride won't identify. Untitled by (MrB), on Flickr
I had a CBR 400RR NC23 for a bit last year was dogged by an electronics problem so had to let her go in the end but what a fun bike to ride as Jimbo says good for 130 at least. Most of the NC23's nowadays will have had their OEM wheels swapped for NC29 wheels because you get a bigger tyre choice as NC23 Standard has 17 front and 18 rear whereas the NC29 has 17 and 17. Great bikes though dude loads of fun to be had.
Great little bikes, a little small for me but still great at 6'4 bit of a mini moto but still take my mates out every so often for a laugh
My first bike was a cbr400 tri arm in repsol colors loved it to bits handled nicely great power to weight no issues other than a rear wheel bearing in the year and 8000 miles I did on it ... Still miss it now
