taking my ecu to them for a bench reflash saturday, they said i should be happy enough without putting it on the dyno as it will be 90% there so gonna give them a go and get a few things switched off in the ecu too. just wondered has anyone else used these guys at all?
Sorry but this doesn’t compute, they’ll give you something you will be 90% happy with, the only way to get it correct is on a dyno, no two bikes are the same and to get it right takes dyno time, end of.
No sorry mate they didn’t say I’ll be 90% happy they meant the bike will ride pretty much spot on and the flash will be ball park spot on, the 10% is just to make it absolutely bang on but they said I’ll be happy enough with what they do as they said from experience they know what file to upload to it and will switch off what I require etc, reviews seem very good and to be honest I won’t be tracking it and I’m sure I won’t be using it to its full capability on the roads so as long as they smooth out the low end jerkiness I’ll be happy enough, worse case scenario is I have to take it to be put on the dyno! Just wondered if there was anyone on here had used this company though as seen they’d done a few fireblades on they’re Facebook page?
Post in ECU flashes are becoming quite common. Whilst bikes aren't identical there is normally very little difference between them. If you want max performance etc you will still need a full dyno tune, but for most riders a standard flash is enough to smooth out the curve and disable o2 sensor etc.
What are you asking them to turn off? Personally I'd have stuck with your PCV and gone somewhere for a full custom map.
im waiting all things you basically can’t do on a pcv pal. I want fan temp lowering, injector cut, o2 sensor, exhaust valve, inlet flaps all disabled. Gonna leave the pair valve as they said that makes no difference to performance and I’d like to keep any popping from exhaust lol. they will mess around with a few maps for throttle ign timing and something else that I’m not clued up on so ultimately it has to be better than what I’ve been using which was a pcv with a file from dynojet, I’d just rather get it done this way than have a piggy back ecu basically telling the ecu lies!!
I want to get an ECU flash done when I'm back in England, possibly ditch the PCV but I'd be open to keeping it on too, depending on whats recommended. One thing I will say though is I wouldn't be happy, personally, without it going on the dyno. I'd rather pay more and have the peace of mind that everything has been taken into account. Mind you, I'm running cams and a ported head, so there's a lot more variables on mine but I'd still want a map bespoke to my engine even if I weren't...
yeah Definately a lot more you could get out of your engine I imagine pal, I was set of paying for the full dyno tune but this p3 actually said try the flash with personal mods on first and if I feel it needs to go on dyno they just charge the difference so I have nothing to lose really but I think for myself and what I do on the roads fingers crossed the reflash will be fine, it’s the low down jerkiness and snatchy throttle that I’d like smoothing out more than anything and maybe a few more flames if possible lol
Trouble is as I see it for dyno the fuel is set up for the day you go in, air temp, pressure etc, a change in temp and the map changes on a normal system. I would agree you could make a standard ecu reflash that would work with most bikes as all bikes come with the same map as standard anyway
Thanks for all the replies guys, I took the ecu down to p3 this morning and he did a bench flash and disabled certain things. Managed to get a quick ride in tonight and wow different bike, just feels so super smooth and rideable, havent absolutely thrashed it yet but it doesn’t feel a lot faster which I wasn’t expecting but more just amazed with how much more disable it is mid range and when In traffic there’s no juddering and that on/off throttle feel! Exhaust crackling like a champion too Top guys at p3 and will be taking it back for a dyno run when I get time, really recommend them
