Toying between 2 new helmets, both arai a chaser v at £400 and an rx7 gp at £640, is the rx7 really worth £240 extra and what actually is the difference them ??

No, there's all sorts of small differences between the two but not worth IMO

Arai side pods are (in)famous for being a weak point. I've had 2 Viper GTs, 1st popped a pod in under a month, 2nd went 4 years before the pods bust. I frequently change visor as well.

I have the RX7 GP and its mainly the venting and liner that the difference is.
Even though I love my GP, I would say its cheaper brother is still stunning quality.
As for side pods I have had so many Arais since swapping from a Shoei Kocinski rep and have never knackered a side pod.
Having said that it does make you paranoid until you get the knack then its a breeze! my tip is to always do it with the lid in front of you and facing away.

On my second and quality is not on a par with Shoei in my opinion. Side pods are a nightmare and been thru a few. I def not got the knack lol.

I had a Corsair 5 years ago. had a few lids after but they never felt the same. I bought a Rx7 GT and it fits like a glove. I love mine. No issues with the visor or fitting it like others have had.and it cost me £440 from helmet city at the NEC show. So the Rx7 gets my vote but the most important thing for anyone buying a lid is the fit

So if the RX7 fits you best then I would buy that. but I would not pay the £699 or £640 price and why I went for this Arai RX7-GP - Hayden Green with FREE UK Delivery at Helmet City

And I love mine best lid I've had
