I was watching American Chopper the other evening and we we presented with the working bike wash prototype, part of the joy of riding is the care and attention we apply to our bikes. Its typical of the Americans to come up with a labour saving answer to cleaning ones bike but I cant help thinking they are missing the point? Less time working more time at MacDonalds perhaps

How long before your local dealer has an automatic bike wash?

I cant see how it would ever work,to get to all the little bits tucked
deep inside the bike and how would it know what bits not to shot water
    at i.e. intakes, exhaust outlets.
think this is why we havent had these by now.....but they would be handy
if it did work for them winter days you get the bike covered in salt, quick
wash while your out so there is less to do when you get home and give it
    a good clean.

I get no pleasure washing cars so the little Eastern Europeans get our business as they do a bloody good job, although having said that I do sometimes give L's SLK a proper wash and brush up. As for my bikes, that a whole different story. I wouldn’t let anyone but me clean (maybe Carl, as I know he is as anal as me about it as me) let alone a machine. On that note I had the piss taken out of me today as I have re cleaned my bike this afternoon as part of its hibernation preparation. It's been in a garage and under a cover not turning a wheel since the last time I cleaned it in September. Is that sad or what?
