i know it's a short journey for most of you but it will be the first time ive gone any real distance and on my own its roughly 650 miles from aylesbury and 13.5hours but i think 3 hours of that is the ferry crossing my question is! is that comfortable in a day! or woud i be better off doing that in 2 days? im also on a 600cc bike! woud i be better off being on a litre bike for that trip? cheers
2 days would be better. That way you can enjoy the area and get a better feel for the place. Don't think it will mater what size of bike you take to be honest. You'll still have fun.
Def two days - motorway up to Manchester - then A roads all the way. Mates just did Aylesbury to Edinburgh in 2 days via A roads - but that was enjoying it - the overnighted in Halifax . On way back did it in a day. a 600 is perfect for it - make sure you have a way to charge your camera / phone as you will take loads of pictures!
Two days. Done Kent to the borders (Peebles and some other place I can't remember with the lads on here) and that's a long day! I wouldn't attempt that with a ferry crossing as well in one day. No chance.... As al said motorway to Manchester way, then a roads (the route firebloke took us was immense) Sure someone will give you some pointers of it. I'd aim to get over borders stop at somewhere like peebles, moffat etc then really enjoy the Scottish roads the next day. As for 600 - makes no odds you'll love it and more than enough bike for the job - went to Monaco on my r6 and was mega
Aylesbury ... Clachaig Inn, Glencoe, Argyll PH49 4HX........ about 450 then into highlands next day. ......... Mike Your 600 will love the scotch roads.
That is one hell of a hit to Glencoe from Ay. unless you motorway almost all the way. Moffat would be my choice to break the trip or Balloch just past Erskine Bridge north of Glasgow
will have a look at this too!if i can have a couple of options i can see how i get on at the time,at the moment i think i will only have 4-5 days off
