hi all, bikes now sorned from today until probably march/april and i only just fitted new battery last month after optimate killed the last one. i,ve taken the battery out this morning and brought it indoors as garage is freezing out there. is it worth a quick charge now and again or just left in a dry/warm cupboard until march/april time. i assume that my odometer wont loose the total mileage even though trip settings will be cleared. anyone know if the gi pro gear indicator will need reprogramming afterwards. thanks guys!!

How did the optimate kill your last battery?
Ive just given in and put mine on charge after it took more turns than normal to fire up.

i,d left it permanently plugged into optimate and it just didn,t like it . it still probably had 90 percent life left but as you,ll know the blade can be a slow turnover at best of times. i has same thing happen to a previous bike few years ago with the optimate. i think mines the first generation optimate so maybe time for a newer model.

Do you reckon leaving mine on overnight will be ok then, or should i pop out and disconnect it since plugging it in this afternoon?

I've just stuck mine on an Oximiser 900 for the forseeable future, they are designed to be connected for months at a time with no ill effects!

My bike and kit car has always stayed on a Optimate over the winter and after 5 years never had a issue with bike or car battery
