I would like to fit some hell braided hoses to my 07 blade this winter, just wandering what is the best user friendly brake bleeding kit to buy,to bleed bike by myself, one man. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I have used quite a few methods in the past an old bottle with a pipe in it but this can allow air to be sooked back up the pipe if not careful. Vacuum bleeder works well and can be fast but more often than not air gets drawn in via the bleed screw threads along with drawing fluid down the pipe work making it hard to determine if air is still in the system. This can be minimised by wrapping thread tape around the threads of the bleed screw but does not always seal it completely especially after tightening n loosing screw a few times. The best and cheapest option that I always go back to is the likes of the draper easy bleeder unit, basically a bottle container with a one way valve stuck on the pipe on the inside of the container, I picked mine up off the bay for around a fiver and still best option in my opinion. Also I tend not to use the reverse bleed method as most of the time the MC is full of black crap n bits which I like to remove by completely emptying the MC container and cleaning with a rag then with the help of gravity and the bleeding process clean everything out the lines and callipers. But its really up to you buddy whatever method you feel comfortable using. I have also posted the process of bleeding the lines in an other post too which might also help if your feeling overwhelmed by the process. Good luck with whatever method you choose.
I have never used anything but a old empty milk bottle and piece of clear tube . Bleed master first furthest caliper then right caliper then do them all again jobs a good un. Never had a problem and never had spongy lever
See that's where I have been going so wrong Arthur..... I was spraying my weeds with that a few weeks ago!
Just to add, whilst youve got the system drained of brake fluid it's worth replacing your standard bleed nipples with a set of these, makes bleeding easier which ever method you decide to use. Goodridge Speed Bleeder - Demon Tweeks
Hey Shiny......Do you know when you posted the bleed process (non ABS) please? Save me scrolling thru your 500 posts
You know what it is, I have an old VW Passat I have never done a fluid change on it or any other car I have owned.... Never had any problems, never crossed my mind to change it. I change the bikes fluids every year in the spring, I'm often mucking about re-bleeding trying to improve the feel! I think I'll give up!
