Peeps need some advice, as some of you are aware I'll be going to the moto gp in Barcelona in June , ill be riding from Calais to Barcelona which is around 822miles each way. So my question is which tyre would you recommend for this journey?

Very subjective issue and no two people will agree, but for a long trip and good wet and dry grip I would personally go for Bridgestone BT 023s .

Second That! a big can aw worms that question is!!!

Tbh tho you dont really get a bad tyre in the modern array of tyres produced by the manufacturers.

Answers will vary from person to person depending on how they like a tyre to respond to the road surface. some people like to feel all the lil stone edges that make up the road surface others like a more numb response where the tyre only gives feedback when its unsettled on the road surface.

Some of the most talked about multi compound tyres on here are the Dunlop sportsmarts, Michelin Pilot 2ct or moving into the proper sport/touring pilot road 3 or the above mentioned bridgestone 023's.

But like I said tyres are very rider dependant!

Certainly agree with BT 023's but would add Michelin Pilot Road...1,2,or 3 and if you go with the earlier version price is that much cheaper.....a friend did a 2000+ on his gixer thou including a full day in torrential when we did a France trip a couple of years ago and had nothing but praise for the Michelins....reckon you can't go wrong with practiaclly any sport tourer tyre.

just be aware the 'sipes' ? on the Pilot road 3 tyres pick up more punctures than road 2's - to the point Michelin have approved 2 repairs per tyre I think.

I trust the 023's and so do all who have tried them - I've done that distance on my blade a few times without issue - make sure you get in touch for some top roads over the pyrenees as you head into Spain to make the trip more interesting - also thefirebloke a wealth of knowledge on that area.

That's a smashing price, shipmate. Mine were at least £50 more fitted. Mustard tyre.

Now at 5K on the PR3s, all winter commuting, no punctures (kiss of death!) and just cannot believe the lack of wear and excellent progressive feel in the cold and wet.....last set of BT16 was shagged in 2K, the PR3s have not seen any warm weather so maybe that will be their downfall, but so far highly recommeded.

Michelin road 3's or road 2's..

I have had the road 2's on my last 3 bikes and they are ace and now come in at a decent price compared to the 3's

I have just fitted a set of dunlop roadsmart 2's to my VFR1200 , they have got great reviews as an all round good tyre , if they last as well as the sportsmarts I currently have on the Blade I will be well impressed

Keep me informed on how the Roadsmart 2's work for you, Bob. My PR3's are on their way out.

I have also just had the RS2 fitted to the blade, having had them on my 600rr I really could not recommend them highly enough!! As long as I'm putting ST tyres on my bikes I will not change from the dunlop. Once I tried the roadsmarts I realised they were a different class to the bridgestone. (this is only my opinion everyone rides different and feels their rubber differently)
