Hey guys starting looking for vans now, won't be buying until March, still saving up. Still wanna get some ideas together. At the minute its between a Ford Transit and Vauxhall Vivaro. Any of you have experience with either of these (or any others)? Could you give a brief review? My budget will be 2-3K although I could possibly stretch that a little bit, would still prefer to start looking in that range though. Will be using it to commute to work (8 miles a day) and for TDs and race meets. Needs to fit 2 bikes and some spares etc. Cheers Hope you all had a great xmas YT
For 2 bikes to fit comfortably you could do with something LWB but that would be a bitch to park at work etc
Parking at work shouldnt be too difficult for me tbh I work in a factory and there's always loads of spaces.. Is a MWB enough to get my bike, some spares and a bit of room left to sleep?
Here's a mad idea but bare with me! Search eBay for wait for it......... Disabled Access Vehicals ..... Fine tune to Rear Access! I'm not taking the Michael as I have a severely disabled daughter 27/7 dependant (too much info Raymondo). You'll find there all low mileage, we'll maintained and the Vauxhal Vivaro will take three bikes ..... Worth a punt! IMO that is.
I've moved my bike plenty of times in a fiat ducato which is the same as a vivaro mwb no problem, however you'll get more choice with the transits I reckon and possibly cheaper, not a fan of vauxhall's
Yea it is. Just seen that there. Does look clean though I'd be put off with that mileage unless I could easily see/drive it.
I'm aiming for something with <100K miles, in nice conidition that hasn't been hammered. for 3.5K been quoted as a 25year old first time driver 500 quid fully comp with all the extras
I don't want to throw a spanner in the works here YT, but go for the biggest van you can find. I have got a Citroen Relay LWB and it houses two bikes, plus spares, generator and WOWs, but even this can get tight if you wanted to fit more in. I would say that a standard Transit or the like would be ideal if you had just one bike, but for 2, it is surprising where the space goes. Again, with headroom, the taller the better.
Only time I will need it for 2 is the odd trackday with a mates bike. Majority of time it will just be me and some spares
2005 / 55 FORD TRANSIT 2.0 MWB DIESEL VAN - MEDIUM ROOF - SILVER - NO VAT - | eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/55-FORD-T...9?pt=UK_Commercial_Trucks&hash=item2333a6579b
Silver 1 has been re-sprayed for whatever reason and the white 1 is quite expensive when you compare it to the blue 1 I posted.
why the fcuk do some tossers not list the mileage of their vehicles on ads??? dont they wanna sell the fekin thing!!!
If it is the odd occasion, then a transit like that will be fine and several mates have them. for securing the bike, use one of these: Bike-It Wheel Chock - Demon Tweeks Bolt it through the floor of the van and then a ratchet strap around the frame on each side and it will be going nowhere. It is worth looking around for a generator too, as you never know where you will be able to source power from.
I have a 04 transit SWB can be tight with 2 bikes but loads enough space for one and bits it's a 2.0 Tddi brought with 72k now on 140k perfect never had a problem only pads discs normal stuff think dual mass is giving up bit a solid one will be banged in before race season .portaramp in back got 2 of these for sale wink wink lol
