Finished my battery off installing a dashcam, the unit was probably powered for 10 minutes while I installed it and it left my battery at 6v and now it wont take a charge past 11.5v.

I'm wondering if a larger capacity battery would fit in the RR5, I have a GPS tracker, hid's and now this dashcam putting extra toll on it, figured a bigger battery might end up lasting longer.

You could go on the yuasa site and put in the largest dimensions that can fit on the bike and see if any of their batteries have a bigger capacity than yours.

Sounds like yours is just knackered though if it can't be charged. I doubt if running stuff from the battery for 10 minutes would do anything other than deplete it.

That doesn't sound like a battery capacity issue. When a bike is running the power is supplied via the stator and reg/rec. If you had too big a load it could impact the charge time for the battery, but more likely the battery is knackered, especially if you have tried with an external battery.

You will need to fit a trickle charger or charge/use regular to keep the battery topped up. I saw an article on utube how to revive battery's that have run low, If you put on a power supply for a few days at 100ma it has a good chance of recovery. It worked on my lawnmower, I was going to throw it out, now ok

Agreed with Jez. if you’ve got a tracker - then I’d definitely get some kind of trickle charger/optimiser.

I keep mine on an Optimate when not riding. If your arrangements don’t allow a Mains power supply, maybe consider one of the solar powered chargers? Like this https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/206242

not oxfords biggest fan but the reviews are decent and it’s a quarter the price of the Cheapest Optimate equivalent

what dash cam did you go for by the way? I’ve got one for the MT10 but it wouldn’t work on the blade.
