I'm about to make the biggest decision of my life and hand in my notice at my work. I have worked hard to get to where I am in my place of work, where I have been for over 10 years, and have loved the challenge getting there, but over the last few months I have had itchy feet. I decided to 'window shop' to see what was out there, and long story short I've recieved an offer that is too good to refuse. I've honestly never been as apprehensive about anything in my life. It's a completely fresh start in a new area where I need to move house and take the girlfriend and the wee man with me.
Go for it mate! New challenges are a gamble, but most people I know who have braced change, have become very successful.
Just do it Colin I am in a position after 13 hard years the shitbags don't appreciate what me and others do and its only a matter of time before I blow .
Good luck and I hope it all goes well. Have only ever stayed in one job for 10 years and that was my first one. Moving on can be scary but new horizons normally mean new adventures. One bit of advice on changing jobs is to not had your notice in until you have the signed contract for the new job in your hand.
Thanks guys. I find myself constantly trying to challenge myself, and feel that this will be another string to my bow. I just hope that I make the right decision and that it's a decision that I can prosper from. I may be a little less on the forum over the next few weeks as I try to organise a house move and other things, but hopefully it's only a short interruption in my waffling on here.
Colin, You will be fine with the job, settling into the new area prob. much tougher - but think of all the new roads you have to research now - You will need the break mid May I am sure!
Good Luck Colin, just make sure you read everything in your new contract and are happy with it before you sign it. Take a deep beath and step out into the new world. You will be fine.
Contract will be read front to back, and back again. I won't be taking anything lightly with such a big decision like this.
Well done fella! Takes real balls to step out of your comfort zone. Hope it meets your expectations dude. Didn't know you we're moving also, new garage!?!?
PMSL. To be honest it's 1 of the reasons I'm finding it hard to move on. To move on from what I know and friends is the hardest bit of the decision.
Good luck mate, it will be good for you, it is scary I know, I left the navy 6 years ago with no idea what to do, since then I have slowly changed my whole career path and moved twice but I don't regret a single thing you have to grab the opportunities that come you way in life Good luck and well done !
