    Fellow members

Is anyone else finding that their bike is becoming very hot in this weather when stuck in traffic. I have only been riding my 02 blade since Monday, but every time I get caught in traffic it's up to 99/102 degrees and the fan kicks in.

My inside leg was roasting today. Is this normal for blades, and it was bloody hot in London today.

    Many thanks

Normal I reckon , doesn't take long in this heat being stationary. No air going through the radiator .................

thats what the fans for.think about it,no air passing over the rad,no engine cooling.

Yes as others have said, providing the fan cools it no prob. Frame also get very hot as alloy heats up quick from the heat soak from the engine.

Heat is constantly generated by an internal combustion engine when running and it has to go somewhere, so your leg makes a convenient heatsink when sitting in traffic, clever design really.

You get used to riding with your legs splayed out like a frog at slow speeds :p

A few threads similar to this and mine will run around 80 degrees if it's not hot outside. But if it's warm then the engine will not cool lower then the ambient outside temp

I've had mine run no lower then 102deg when I was riding in Spain when it was 35+ and this was at motorway speeds. And had it up to 110 when in traffic at the same time.

But never did any harm to my bike.

Thanks for the reassuring replies guys. The alloy frame does get very hot, but with it being do close to the engine I can understand and the fan is kicking in and cooling it when it hits 102/2.

I was riding in Corsica on my ducati 851 in 35c and the bike felt like it was going to explode. London riding in tho weather is not done wearing leathers that's for sure.

On the few days a year that the mercury is high enough to nip downtown with shorts on you do have to be careful with those engine casings. Bloody godsend the rest of the year tho:D
