Hi guys Been a little peeved off with what I was paying to insure the blade. Bought a brand new Ducati 1098R in 2008 for £25,000 - Insurance was £375 Had a 2001 Yamaha R1 at the time which was purchased new in 2001 - Insurance in 2008 was £210 When I bought the Blade brand new in 2011, thought the insurance would be around £250 (based on paying £375 for 1098R), however insurance was £350. Last year at renewal the Blade went up to £375. Just had the renewal this morning £424-63. Went to Gocompare.com 98% of our car insurance customers could save money and my insurance company (Bennetts) were the ceapest at £134-64 YES £134-64!!!!! Just rang Bennetts to query why the renewal quote was £424-63 but online price was only £134-64. They told me that the quote for £424-63 was correct abd based on the information provided. They also said that the online calculator worked slightly different with regards to discount etc!!! What by a factor of 3 !!! I can not belive the difference!!!! Cancelled the current policy when it ends next week, and just paid for a new policy only SAVING £290 !!!! Happy Days !!!!! However peeved off with Bennetts for trying to rip me off !!!! So be aware Cheers Rich
And a lesson there for all .Carole Nash tried a similar stunt but for me once bitten so I F##ked them off .
Every single insurance company is the same. "Always shop around" (this isn't a dig at you mate) I get my quote in, go online and find the cheapest quote and then go back to my insurer to price match. Same every year. But as you say it is so annoying having to do that every year.
they do it every renewal do they not think we are gonna go online n beat it..........this laptops paid for itself many times over lol
Just had mine through, 2yrs ncd clean licence £540 it was £609 last year. Will look about to see how lowI can get it.
Sideways your quote made me feels a bit less ripped off. I'm 35 with 10 years no claim and a clean licence. My 2012 was £705 to insure. apparently the no claims is worth diddly squat when stepping up to the ltr class... I hope it drops next year.
Duno about that Chris? I'm 45, Clean Licence, live in a 'Nice Postcode' Bike sleeps in a Brick Garage and does less than 4K a year. Best premium was £900 because I've been outa Biking for 18 years or so, so have Z E R O NCD! Just outa interest I popped in 2 years NCD at the quoting stage outa curiosity and found the premium dropped to £500 or so. ....................................roll on next year, assuming a claim free 2013!
I'm 32 with 6 years NCB and fully comp with all Mods declared on my 04, it came in at just under £300. I got a quote for a BMW S1000rr on a 10 plate and it was near as dam it the same.
Same here! I ran the online quote also for an HP4 and it still stayed at £900 despite the BMW being £16.5K new. Spose a Group 20 Bike is a Group 20 Bike, end of!
Dont get me started on insurance brokers!!! And they wonder why more and more people ride/drive uninsured? never accept a renewal, its never the best quote EVER!
Wow i'm lucky 5 year NCB 350 excess and grand total of 183.77 OK once i put leather cover breakdown, legal and personal cover, protective NCB every possible extra on £291.30 ( i only do everything it as mate got knock off his..... covered his wage for 3 month, all new leathers a lid and picked bike up... plus he last the keys and got em replaced) i'm 31 though
i am finding mce to be very good price. i think insurance quotes work on chaos theory - where is Dr Brian Cox. i bet he would struggle.....
When mine was stolen last year, the broker stated the underwriter was refusing to offer cover on the new bike, so went from paying around 200 protected NCB on an RR6 to quotes around the 1K mark for a RA-A. started webbing around got it down to the 400 mark, then found a broker up in Scotland, did it for around 325, and the joke, I am back with the underwriter that I was with when the bike was nicked, identical policy, protected NCB etc.!
Years ago before online insurance qoutes, I litterly used to sit there all day on the phone playing insurance companies against each other, was worth doing as you could save £££££££££ Never be loyal to an insurance comap
