Just got my renewal through and it was £110 , last year it was £90 I went on the usual go compare etc and a bit cheaper but then found a site called The Bike Insurer new quote £67 I think its cheapest I have ever had
Good deal - just check everything is like for like - cover, xcess, breakdown, etc..... Mines due in March so expecting a hike as well - so worth knowing you got a better deal with "The Bike Insurer" (think i've used them before)
a while ago I used to pay for legal cover on my policy then had a stolen car hit me, I thought thankfully I had this cover, I rang them and they just told me to try and take the car owners to court, I said don't you do this they said we just offer advice, never paid it since
Trouble with going for the cheapest is you don’t know how good they’ll be until you need them. Not that you necessarily get better service the more expensive they are but you have to wonder how they get that price so low.
I totally agree, the problem with insurance is you never know how good they are until you claim, the only good thing about the bike is, it's a toy so if it is off the road a while it is not an issue, I don't need a courtesy bike, hopefully I won't find out how good or bad they are
They're all twats. No exceptions. Always take a courtesy vehicle as it focuses them on resolving the claim before it gets bigger. The legal cover is worthless, it's just no win - no fee. If they're not certain of rinsing the other guy's insurance, they bin you off.
Except it's not always safe to do that. There are plenty of reported cases where the courtesy bike gets charged at exorbitant prices and the insurance co tell you it's all yours to pay. The latest White Dalton page has got a bloke with a £10,000 bill for a courtesy bike which it looks like is on him. Def. shark infested waters.
You would have thought that at 10k they would give you the bike, How does it get to this amount, I have had a few claims and all not my fault but all ended in kicking off with all involved, I think they take the p1ss and it is up to you to fight it which a I am good at make sure they pay Most people do not kick off so the company's are laughing most of the time
My last off saw the insurance brokers taking the bike to Liverpool (I'm in Suffolk) for repair but not telling Aviva, who they had insured me with. Said it was a write off - it fell off the side stand! They offered a courtesy which I refused. Phoned Aviva who got quite agitated. Thought a scam was going on - so did I. They got the bike to their repair shop in Surrey who were excellent. Said if I was ok with it getting back to me in same state as b4 drop then fine. It was 5 yrs old. To make it as good as brand new would be too expensive, which was pretty obvious. It came back almost better than new and was told that Aviva were not using that broker any more. So never used a broker since. That guy on White Dalton apparently signed a contract for the courtesy which he didn't read. Like walking a tight rope over a volcano.
When someone hit my car I was offered a courtesy car but it had high excess, I complained to the insurance company as my rights are I should not be worse off as it is not my fault, they changed the car excess details so they were the same as mine,
prices seem to have gone up 15~25% this year all price comparison websites now use the same database and come up with the same prices.
