Hi Everyone, I cant seem to find anything on this but maybe someone has an idea before I take the engine out for a rebuild

The bike was stolen and recovered but was found on its side in shallow water, it has had a new loom (damaged when stolen) new ignition and ECU, the spark plugs out turned over lots of oil and water forced out new plugs oil drained and there was a lot of water in the engine

I am pretty confident they never got it running which is way it was dumped but I got it running but when it fired there was a really bad knock from low down so I immediatley shut it down

Before I remove the engine and strip does anyone have any ideas what would make it knock based on the above

    Thanks in Advance

    Andy

Try removing the ignition cover, might be too much oil trapped in there.
Work for me after transporting a birtbike in the back of the car.

    Hi Andy
You could’ve damaged it yourself. If you started it and water had managed to find its way into the cylinders, there is a good chance it has bent a con rod or rods.
Hopefully someone else can come up with happier theories.

It could possibly be i hit the starter when I got it back it wouldnt turn over so removed the plugs and cranked it and loads of oil and water came out, there is a possibility I guess that it had been in gear and when they recovered it they tried to move the bike in gear
Does anyone know if it would start with a bent con rod though? I mean it does start just sounds awful

Sprag clutch worth looking at. Measure piston height at tdc 1&4 and bdc for 2&3 too see if rod is bent or crank out of phase.
