Hi all my bike sat out the winter in the garage but I forgot to put it on charge over that period. my meta alarm fobs no longer work with it, so I am unable to disengage the alarm. The alarm doesn’t sound straight away, it starts messing about after the ignition has been on for a while, so I assume with the ignition on it is charging the alarm system? this may tie into the fact I cannot start the bike either, the fuel pump doesn’t prime when I turn the ignition on, and when I try to start the bike, the lights all dim like it would normally to start, but the bike does nothing at all. anyone able to help me? Please?
It almost seems like I need to leave the ignition on long enough for the meta system to get enough charge for me to be able to reprogram the fobs, but by doing so, once the system gets enough power (after a minute or so of having the ignition on) the alarm goes off and I cannot turn it off. So I cannot charge it enough to be able to programme a fob unless I want to lose my hearing and piss off the neighbours...
Have you charged the bike battery? The lights dimming etc. would tend to indicate not enough juice being available to engage the starter fully. From what you are describing the battery is extremely low and may be beyond recovery, but give it a decent charge first and it may come back good. Putting it on a charger may also help to then recharge the alarm battery, but TBH I don't like bike alarms as they are pretty useless and just seem to cause problems, so unless your insurer demands it I would just remove the alarm.
I have charged the bike fully, my charger says all is good, but I read somewhere that the alarm might have its own battery and that only charges when the ignition is on
On my Meta alarm if the bike has been left a while the remotes will not work. You have to turn the ignition on and then press the button on alarm remote and it will then disarm. Once this has been done the remotes will work fine.
