My 2013 Blade wont start? Lights come on etc it cranks over but doesnt kick on, its like its not getting fuel, just little smoke from exhaust and also a big bang at one stage.
Battery is fine, cleaned the the starter switch at handlebar with WD40, checked fuses seem fine.

Back from big tour week ago put about 3500mls up over two weeks. Gave it a big wash on Teusday and it started fine after, but didnt leave outside to dry like normal just put in garage wet. I noticed it was nearly out of fuel. Yesterday Friday i took out of garage and it wouldnt start? Put £5 of fuel in and still it wont start. Could there be an air lock in fuel system because i let the tank get very low on petrol- if so how do i fix it? Any ideas? Obviously will contact dealer on Monday but thought id have a go first. Thanks

Failing that, is it in Gear?

    Is the sidestand down?

    Check the sidestand switch?

It's a 2013, get the Dealer on the job!

With the ignition on flick the kill switch off then on, you should hear the fuel pump reprime and other diagnostic clicking, if not its the switch you need to look at

The fuel pump would pull the fuel through even if it had run out of fuel. Putting away wet shouldn't have any effect, they get wet in the weather we have.
I'd go with checking the kill switch, that it's in neutral etc. as slick has said you should hear the fuel pump priming when the ignition is turned on when kill switch is turned to on position and bike in neutral. Failing that get dealers contacted.

Thanks, yes understand the clicking sounds before starting, the sounds are still there but they dont seem as crisp and as loud as before?? but that could be me just looking for problems that are not there! I will let you know how i get on at dealers. By the way the Honda dealer is 30mls away but is it correct that under the guarantee the dealer will collect by bike at home and return it to me? Thanks

Not sure whether the Dealer has to collect as part of the warranty - but may do as a goodwill gesture. The other way is to call the AA out and get them to recover it back.

Yes tried both keys still same, HISS is blinking as normal. I believe im covered by the HondaCare Assistance- Roadside assistance for first two years. Noticed on LED dash that when first turn on and all the parameters flash on there are wiggly lines through two of the odometer zeros maybe they have always been there and im just noticing them? I think something has gone wrong with the electronics some sensor has decided the bike has fallen over or something like that, or maybe its something to do with the spark plugs? Actually looking forward to finding out! Lifted tank and all connections seem fine. It did start for about 1 second today but then died? Head wrecker!

Did you flood the plugs with water when you washed the bike. Used to be a common problem with older bikes.

So all has been sorted thank god but bit of a strange one ive never heard of it before? Rang dealer 9am today had AA man to my house in about 1.5hrs which i thought was brilliant. I told him the situation and he pressed the starter button and IT STARTED!!! I was big time surprised. I asked him why had it started? i had tried one hour before and it still wouldnt start and believe me im not completely thick i have rebuilt a Fireblade engine in the past with no major problems.

He told me that when i had disconnected the battery so i could give it a good charge and put it back on bike i should have left the key in the ignition for 30mins so the alarm/electronics system could reset itself then it would have started? But because it didnt start straight away i probably made it worse by trying over and over etc This made sense to me because one hour before AA man arrived i took battery off charger put on bike but this time i left the key in ignition because i thought it would be going to the Honda dealer, i hadnt left the key in the ignition anytime before in the last three days.

So i rang the dealer to let him know everything was sorted and he asked what turned out to be the problem- i told him what the AA man said and how the bike had started and he said "load of balls"!!! So now i dont know what to believe!! What do u think anyone ever heard of this? Anyway its been fine today and hope it starts tomorrow. I cant believe it was just a low battery and then flooded plugs!! But whatever i feel 100% that i got my bike back! Thanks for all replys ;)

yes his explanation don,t sound right to me. i took the battery out of my blade last winter for few months and took it indoors to protect from icy garage and when i put back in it fired up the first time i tried and that was within a couple of minutes of refitting battery.

I thought it was a strange explanation too, so will have to swallow my pride and say it was most likely down to me not leaving the battery to charge properly for a good 48hrs and then making situation worse by flooding it! ah well live and learn!
