I heard about this yesterday and mentioned it in another thread on here, but thought it worth bringing it to everyone's attention.

Biker Down is a free first aid course run by Fire and Rescue services up and down the country (originated in Kent), and it aims to train people on how to deal with a crashed biker or injured motorcyclist should you ever have the unfortunate need to do so. Since many of us ride in groups or pairs, I thought this would be useful to many of us.

It seems to be mainly the southern counties that are providing these courses, but as a rider from the north/midlands, I've made some enquiries and found out today that it's also available in South Yorks and just announced is that Cheshire will also be running them from the 30th May this year. For those interested in the Cheshire course, drop an email to [email protected] for more info and booking.

For everyone else, take a look at the vid below, check out their page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bikerdownuk), their website (http://www.bikerdown.info) or email [email protected] to find out if there are courses being run in your area. It could help save a fellow biker's life :)

And did I mention the course is FREE! :)

Gloucester are also starting courses this year, and the Essex Fire Bike team have been running the course for over a year now

Was waiting for Lincoln to start this. Looks like S Yorks may be an option though as they do some at Doncaster.

They do a day course at brands hatch, is only 50 quid and you get a couple 20 minute track sessions aswel and a ride out with an approved IAM instructor to try and make us all safer riders. Sounds good and I'm hoping to get and do one when I can.

Yeah - had confirmation from Cheshire Fire Service that they plan to run the £50 track sessions next year at Oulton. I'll post the dates once I have them :)

Almost certain that I will now be unable to attend this as I think I am working in Slough that weekend - but don't bite the hand that feeds you and all that
