Ok so how many of these fauxs-pas are people guilty of on here: Every motorcycle fashion faux-pas. Ever. - Features - Visordown Have to say I agree that nearly all of those are heinous crimes, apart from hi-viz in dodgy weather.
Did the iridium visor back in the mid 90's and the sunglasses about then too. Still have a hi vis cordura jacket
I own up to being guilty of two of them, but I am not providing ammunition for you lot to take the p you just don't need encouragement. Personally i would have added the very 'saggy bottom' on some peoples leathers, it just looks so Yuk. Not a fan of co-ordinated leathers and bike colours either, especially on us wrinkles. I have loads of others, but I am keeping quiet about them. Just an aside, the last thing I think about on my bike is what I am wearing, I just love the actual riding bit. I often stand out at bike parking areas as being the one most likely to be riding a scooter or a moped rather than a sports bike.
I don't see the problem with rim tape and I wear a hoody over my leathers as it's easier to wash than the leathers for getting flies off and think it looks better as it helps prevent the power ranger look
errr rim tape, sunglasses, hoodie and hi viz - guilty as charged. no longer guilty of irridium visor. But as said rim tape is honda's own, sunnies instead of carrying a spare visor and the hoodie keeps leathers clean, the hi viz is for winter commuting safety.
Rim tape & Fleece/hoody but my bike came with rim tape (and it looks good) & the hoody only goes on when it's cold and I'm out for the day as there isn't enough room under my one piece for something that thick, unfortunately I didn't wear a hoody at Thruxton last weekend as I've now got a cold! I have to agree with the camo trousers (especially the comment), cuddly toys, fashion jackets, brand clash and especially the stick on ears and mullets! I don't like the sunglasses under visors thing as i know a guy who once had a cousin that had a mate who rode with this bloke that lost an eye when his cheap sunglasses snapped when he came off his bike! (well thats the old wives tale).
Rim tape is cool. and a fleece over your leathers keep you warm, i should rethink their faux pas if i where they.
Yeah hoodies over leathers may keep you warm but it's not exactly a good look hence the 'fashion faux-pas' entry, I think. After all, Crocs are functional and probably comfy but I'd rather have slippers made of razor blades than be seen in some!
My leathers tend to match (black with black bike), I wear a fleece over the top sometimes no problem with that. I also have a silver iridium visor. Oh well.
To be honest, I don't give a flyin fuc$ what other people think is fashionable or a faux pas. I ride and tart up my bike for me, nobody else. I wear what I consider adequate clothing etc and if somebody else wants to wear different, good for them! I draw the line at tee shirt, shorts n trainers though!!!
