I've been offered a second hand BKS Leopard suit at a reasonable price. It has had very little use. And it fits me nicely, it seems a little stiff but I guess thats because its new. Has any one got one and what do you think of it? I dont know much about them, just they're owned by Frank Thomas & I think J & S. Cant find much in the way of reviews. Should I save my cash and get something else or go for it! Ozz
Good to hear they are good! I thought they looked reasonably priced these are similar just different colour scheme to the ones I'm tempted by. BKS057 Leopard Suit Black - Leather Suits - Clothing Cheers for the comments boys.. Ozz
I have 2 sets of BKS Silverstone leathers and they seem ok. Come with a half hump and long elbow & knee armour for extra protection.
I have always wanted a made to measure BKS suit but very very expensive, even the 'off the peg' is very good quality. Don't think you can go wrong with them
Frank Thomas don't exist any more Brian Sampson of BKS worked with FT to produce some off the peg, budget suits to add to his brand. These are not to be confused with BKS (made to measure) which cost 3 x as much, but well worth it even if it does mean staying on a permanent diet. Had mine about 6 years as still look new.
ahhhhh when I seen this I thought of BKS Exmouth where I got my Leathers from aka Brian not FT. My BKS suit is amazing, fits perfect, quality is the best. Cost me a lot but worth every penny BKS LEATHER I designed my leathers with the help of Brian, added roo leather, uprated armor, vents anywhere I wanted as they are for summer use, just the roo leather was £500 extra but 5 years later are perfect
These are just off the peg in black with white details. Fit me nice, just couldn't find much info and didnt want them to fall apart on me. Sounds like they are worth investing in. Not sure about this permanent diet lark though MrB! Ozz
How confusing is that having two BKS's! If I was going to go down the made to measure route I'd go to Hideout Leathers as they are only just down the road from me. Ozz
I looked at Scoot and BKS, Scott is not a patch on BKS and re confusing. It's not really. was big news back 5-6 years ago when BKS sold a part of their name to FT
I just got my second suit from Brian in Exmouth, I still have my original set I got in 2000, and whilst they are still good, they don't fit quite as well as the new set. They are superb, and the new set has extra protection and more features which were a result of the deal BKS Made to Measure (they had to change the name as a result of the deal) did with FT. The deal helped FT raise the quality and brand name, and used Brian's expertise and knowledge in designing superb suits used by many races, and lots of us lucky enough to have heard of him. But if you got a suit that fits well that is the main thing.
Lol 36!! Not as young as I'd like to be! I used to commute 30 odd miles a day on my bike Fazer at the time and It wasn't really a toy so textiles were the only thing I was interested in. Then I realized that riding in the snow and ice was silly & the bike became a toy and I prefer to look like a power ranger now!! Just not up on gossip when it come to leather manufactures, cheers for the info. Ozz
Haha i'm only 37 as of last week the few I know with BKS made by FT is that they have been impressed with the quality and fitment so you can't go wrong
Sorted Deal done with the bloke at work.. £275! Bargain I think. I can go out on the bike at the weekend now. Cheers for the Info guys. Have a good weekend! Ozz
I don't understand the 30mile commute == textiles bit... I do 36 each way and it's leather, leather and more leather... I'd hate to bounce down the road in textiles... I gave up on ice & snow when I fell off in it a few years ago... Only thing hurt was my pride as I spun down the road in my Hein Gericke 2 piece... (Wish they were still around. the leathers are great but the linings are stuffed) H
Leathers themselves are really good and very armoured. Poor quality of zips tho. Mine broke in the first 6 months and I now have cable ties on them. That is just the jacket I should say.
