Trip the lights fantastic. Sunday 21st October 2012 It's been mentioned by one or three of you that you'd like to come across to the west coast for a ride through Blackpool's illuminations one evening and asked if I'd post something up. I have given it some thought, and come up with this as an idea. I had originally considered doing this on a week night, but considering certain aspects work, distance etc I've decided a Sunday would perhaps be better? It's not going to be an all day thing, I was thinking along the lines of meeting somewhere central say 16.30hrs Have some tea "fish and chips?" we'll your at the seaside! Ride the lights taking time to stop off and get plenty of pictures. And piss off home when you've had enough. Things to take into consideration? Believe it or not, we've had a very busy season thus far, it's the centenary of the illuminations, some would say, they are much better than previous years. On a typical Saturday/Sunday night it takes the average car 3-4 hours to do one end to another. The good thing is, bikes can filter and make much better progress. Things to look out for, when filtering, pedestrians and street sellers, they walk between the traffic selling their crap, Another factor to take into consideration is the weather. Blackpool can be hostile even in summer. Fully expect pouring rain and wind blowing Irish men onto the beach, anything above this will be a bonus. Of course, for me it's a bus mans holiday, but those of you that expressed an interest I'm happy to run with it and show you the sights Just need to find somewhere central to meet, away from town, if anyone was interested in having their tea out? there is a chippy at the top of where I work and the bikes can remain safe on our works car park while you eat literally 25yrds away. Or you can have a fish supper after your lights run at say Bispham kitchen. before you head for home? Choice is yours. As normal now with threads, I'll put any new news etc on by updating the original thread, saves any news from getting lost in the endless piss taking that is about to commence. Thanks Jason. Given the choice having the experience myself I wouldn't swap Thailand for Blackpool either. Just a thought though mate. Great idea Gaz - can't think where you got it from ? ? ? Will you be re-fitting the neons to the bellypan of the Blade for the evening, some extra daytime running lights and a fcuk off sound system off a Goldwing? (oh - and put me down as a possible - could be good fun, subject to weather!)
