Hi all, New to the forum and a blade that I recently bought with a engine knock. The knock seems to be louder on the clutch side and is a hard knock sound so I don't think it is the CCT. I removed the clutch cover today and removed the basket, first think i noted was the oil pump chain having some slack approx 8mm, pretty sure I read somewhere that it is normal but would like to confirm this please. As the cover was removed, I tried to check play in the con rod that I could reach , there is no left/rights movement but up and down there is a little , again not sure if this is expected. I wondered if anyone can suggest any other checks I can do from the clutch side? Many thanks in advance.
I would have thought the conrod would have no movement at all as it will be fixed at the big end to the crank via bearings?
Exactly my thought, I read that the 07 to 2010 had issues like this but have not found anyone with a 2012 with this issue, bike has only covered 17000KM, I had a feel of the right side cam chain and it does feel tight, which makes me think it isn't a CCT issue..piston slap perhaps.
