On this date in 2015 I collected the Fireblade, trading in the VFR800. The idea was to have something with a bit more ooomph than the Viffer, but not a track race bike. The plan was to take the bike away, so it had to be able to carry some luggage. And it is a proven design, rides beautifully, looks gorgeous, and a Mr McGuinness had just broken the lap record at the Senior TT on one, in HRC colours - what more could you want ! A few photos from the last 12 months. Friday phone call - the bike has arrived and we are putting it together - rush up there in the lunch hour to have a look !! Trip to France to run it in. Trip to Aragon GP, Sept 2015 Going to watch the football on Saturdays Santa Pod Raceway - 134 mph actual Going to see my mum Mugello, 2016 Nearly, but not quite Assen, 2016 Fireblade in first place ! Spedo reading after one year 11,138 Happy bunny
I would recommend France - nice roads, and some great places to visit. Thank you Lozzy. Will make at start on the next 11,000 with a trip to Misano GP in a few weeks time Thanks Nick - it was quite good fun looking through a year's pictures and picking out a few ! Thank you Greco - still think the Fireblade is a lovely looking bike !
Great photos of your blades first year and thanks for sharing. Just proves what great bikes blades are.
Looks like you've had good fun racking up the miles! I've got a couple of mates who's mileage combined over three years wouldn't match that lol @martinowen
great write up and great story. Lovely looking bike. You not been tempted to change the can to something more exotic?
Thanks for the cake ! - and not one single problem with the Blade to date - nothing, not a single thing. I know what you mean. I look at most second hand bikes for sale and think is that low mileage for real ! I did look at changing the end can for something else, but wanted to be sure that the bike is going to be a keeper. Compared to the latest Euro 4 pipes the current end can looks really nice and compact, and is not too loud. Build quality of the stock end can seems good - it is not showing any signs of rust or looking shabby. I passed this dude on a BMW 16000, in France, and met him later at the petrol station. He said it sounded really nice when I came past him ! Not in any rush to change it, not looking for any extra performance, but might change it for something not too extreme.
Been trying to get something going with mates the last few years now as not confident on my own but always let down, was thinking about asking anyone on here for next year once I know when k can get time off
