The BMW HP4, the latest in BMW Motorrad's range of High Performance motorcycles, boasts 193bhp and increased midrange torque compared to the S 1000 RR. After the HP2 Enduro, HP2 Megamoto and HP2 Sport boxer models, the BMW HP4 is the first 4-cylinder motorcycle in the HP family. *
All great - but i fear the days of a sub 12k superbike are soon to be history! the Japs will surely follow suit and before you know it nothing will be under 15k, everything will be dripping in gizmos "to be competitive" and we will all be paying for bikes that are far more advanced for our rode riding requirements. lets face it most of us own non abs blades and they are quick enough - and i'd put a fair bit of money that on my old R1 (2004) i wouldnt be any quicker on the roads on the top spec bike above. why have a bike with 193bhp then need TC, anti wheelie and launch control to control it?
Just read this on MCN. It's getting crazy, the amount of gear on a bike now. For the average road rider a total waste of money. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't kick one out my garage
exactly - if you own one, want the gizmos and can afford it fine, but i think this will leave alot of guys out in the cold who dont want it and dont want to pay for it... for me all i'd want on my 193bhp bmw is : 2013 BMW HP4: £16,700 OTR. Features as standard include: * * Innovative semi-active suspension - Dynamic Damping Control DDC. YES * IDM developed Race ABS. NO * Dynamic Traction Control DTC with fine adjustment in "Slick" mode. NO - Slick will suffice * HP Gear Shift Assist as standard. YES * Lightweight titanium exhaust system. YES * Launch Control with refined wheelie detection. NO * Lightweight forged aluminium wheels in black. NOT FUSSED * Radially-mounted Brembo monobloc brake callipers. HELL YES * LED indicators. WHATEVER * Tinted windshield. FINE * Rear wheel tyre in size 200/55 ZR 17. NOT FUSSED BUT HAVENT TRIED - MIGHT BE AMAZING? * Top yoke with engraved number and HP4 logo. DO ONE 2013 BMW HP4 Carbon: £19,350 OTR. *In addition to the specifications outlined above, the HP4 Carbon also features: * HP brake & clutch lever. SURE OTHER ONE IS FINE * HP carbon belly pan. NO * HP rider footrest system. NO DOESNT THE ABOVE EVEN COME WITH FOOTRESTS? * Wheels in Racing Blue metallic. £50 TO POWDER COAT - JOG ON BMW * HP carbon badge carrier. HA HA HOW MUCH FOR A BADGE?? * HP carbon tank cover & numberplate hanger. SEE ABOVE * Sponsor sticker kit included. EBAY £10 if they are going to go spec crazy, you should be able to spec them up yourselves from a base model like new cars, but you dont seem to get that option, it's either you have standard (which includes loads of gizmos) or R version which is even more... it's BS.
Agreed, then it's as much or as little as you want to pay over the base model, if you were in that position to throw that sort of money? perhaps throw it at a Ducati? The name at least desirable. If as you say, every manufacturer startsjumping on this, pushing it out the reach of the average man in the street, perhaps the second hand market may come strong again?
Seems to have a lot of kit on it, Does this mean that it will take itself out for a ride!? Am I actually needed on the bike at all, or can I just stay indoors? Please, please dont turn our Motorcycles into sterilised tools. Its the raw Bike feel that gives you a full on robot chubby! dont kill it!! (ps: and its too bloody expensive, lol)
This is a serious bit of kit. Really nice, they are gorgeous to look at and will probably wipe the floor with anything pitched against it on track. I agree with all the comments but 20k!! My dad has a HP2 and that is a cracking piece of kit, not only looks but the engineering and finish on it is amazing. I've only managed to ride it a couple of times and each time you know your riding something special. I expect the HP4 to be no different
The carbon extra's at nearly 3k more seems very expensive. The base model (if you can call it that) has the semi active suspension, titanium exhaust and forged wheels already.
Just give me adjustable traction control & ABS on the fireblade for wet/greasy days and that will do me, I'll mod the rest as I like and can afford
After many months of waiting my customers OZ LE wheels have arived!! You dont get these with an HP4 Poor Phone images
lol, they do a Carlos rep pair for 1098etc mate http://www.mcet.de/Eshop/product_in...-Magnesium-Limited-Edition-1098-1198-SBK.html don't look here...lol
I guess the wheels will stay in the living room and not on the bike ! They shouldn't be dirty at all, to nice...
