Hi everyone..... My names Danny and I bought my first bike today... a 2004 Fireblade (awaits mixed opinions ) Just passed my test last week and this bike came up locally at a price I couldn't refuse.... I absolutely love it!! I'll admit, I was scared to ride it once I paid for it... I thought it was gonna rip my arms off (I started learning on a 600cc Diversion 7 weeks ago) but to my surprise, the blade is such a nice ride! It's alot lighter than expected and feels like it's quite happy just gliding along at the lower speeds around town. I was very hesitant when I had everyone advise me not to go to a litre bike for my first bike, but being a 33 year old, sensible guy... I'm glad I didn't listen to the masses! The pic is from the for sale ad.... I'll get some better ones soon. Danny
nice bike mate ! for what its worth I think if you've brave enough to go straight to a 1k bike then you have picked the right bike, as you have said the blade is great all rounder , just don't forget the old girl still packs a punch when she wants to. learn some road craft take it easy and above all stay safe Btw welcome to the forum
Lovely bike mate, I had CBR 600rr for three months before moving to my blade, I think the blade is much easier to ride, it only goes as fast as want it too. Enjoy
Any bike will only go as fast as you make it go. The blade is refined and happy at low speeds but give it the respect it deserves or it will bite and bite hard. I had a break from riding for 8 years and bought a blade when I returned. Like you I was a little apprehensive but within 5 minutes of riding it was like I hadn't been away and I found it easier to get on with than my last 2 600's (ZX6R and GSXR). I did the IAM's Skills for Life and it was the best £120 I ever spent. Concentrate on riding smooth rather than fast as the speed will come. 2 years of blade ownership and 14000 miles later I'm chomping at the bit to get out and planning several trips next year. Happy riding.
A mixture of just passing your test, plus the slippery road conditions. Take it very easy and don't feel pressured to perform like a racing god. Congratulations by the way.
Welcome Danny Nice bike and as others said and a good all rounder. I still love my rr7 and i am glad i went with it. Take it easy out there and easy on the gas as it is a big step but hope you enjoy it
Welcome to the forum. My 2015 Blade potters around locally, happily enough. I think it starts to wake up and take notice at around 4,000 RPM I took mine to Santa Pod Raceway the dragstrip, on one of their "run what ya brung" open days. It was a chance to give it the beans and see what it will do, without having to worry about corners, other riders, trees, policemen. It wasn't expensive either.
Welcome to the forum mate, I used to have the RR5, the same bike as the RR4, greats bikes and am sure you will enjoy, take it easy though as it has a bit more power to weight than your learner bike
Cool, welcome! I have an RR5 for daily use and it still a great bike. I prefer it to my now departed 07 R1. Much better throttle connection. Don't feel pressured to cane it everywhere and stick on some Michelin Pilot road 4 tyres on for the winter. Safe as houses.
Hi & Welcome Dan. Got yourself a beauty there. Good advice from all above, Please take it easy on your first big bike, The blade packs plenty of punch.
Hiya Danny, Welcome to the forum. 1st off, well done on passing your test. Yes, It's a big step up from your DAS bike. Take your time on it, take care when cornering. The blade will tip in so quickly and can tie you up and give you more confidence than your skills permit at this stage. Also, if you put too much gas on, in the wrong place, it will bite you as it's less forgiving than your DAS bike. Respect it and you'll love it.
