Looking at braided lines for mine. I see there's an option of standard (over the mudgaurd) or "race" twin lines driest to the caller. Just curious what's the benefit of one over the other? What's your preference and why ?
lol, get a brembo master cylinder if u have some spare cash, u wont be disappointed, brakes are sharp then
The brakes are the best brakes I've ever used. But I've changed the lever and it has more er leverage .So it comes back further .hence the need for braided lines
I'm no ace on hydraulics, but I'm not sure whether braided lines would resolve that - unless they are in really crap condition. I changed to HEL braided some months back, and can't say that I noticed any difference in 'feel'. In a track with heavy braking situation, that could well be different. The 'trend' to use the 'race setup' is perhaps one of convenience as it does away with the junction over the front guard. I know you would be aware that hydraulic pressure would have no variables or loss of pressure over such a short run, but there could be a train of thought that suggests the lower union would get 'first bite' at the braking application and therefore give better braking on one side of the wheel. This argument could be negated by the fact there's a double union exiting the master cylinder. Pic shows attachment at lower fork yoke:
Have you tried a bleed first bikeboy you might find that makes all the difference. However I would still plan to put braided on anyway. Can’t go wrong with a set of hel’s, there’s a guy on here sells and gives a forum discount as well. Nice colour of lines Nigel. Jinx
@BikersDiscountStore is the man to speak to. Do a search for the shop number, shop name is the same, give them a ring, mention the forum and he will do you a deal.
Hey. The brakes were brill before I put the new lever on. But I think the pivot point is slightly different allowing for more leverage ..this I think put more pressure o the lines and I can...when stationary...pull it back to the grip. Feels like the lines are bulging under pressure. .. not N issue when riding as I don't have to pull them that hard.
That’s the one barsteward. Great service and arrived next day. Another advantage of race lines bikeboy is its one less line to buy. Call me frugal but...... and a speedy bleeder really helps if u only have 2 hands
You could be right about the pivot point. But u could also have got air in when the wee piston pops out when changing levers. Happened to mine. Fluid was old anyway. Remember bleed master cyl first
Well Nigel, I used to have 6 or 8 hands. Then I got married again, had 2 kids and it all went downhill from there. Wot can I say. Get a speedy bleeder!!!! Lol #olderdad hahahahaha
