Please can anybody help me. I have a 2007 SC57 and want to replace the front discs. Can I fit a disc from a newer model? I note that from 2007 onwards, all CBR 1000s have a 320 mm disc diameter. What I am unsure about is the diameter of the hole in the disc centres that attached to the hub. Does anyone know if that size is the same across the model range? Would a 2016 SP discs fit my bike? Thanks in advance Simon
You can fit discs from newer bikes but you'll need spacers for the discs as offsets are different from 08 onwards
Fitting newer discs is not recommended. You will need 5mm offsets on each side. That is something that can fles and in a very short time you will have a horrendous crash that will probably kill you. The discs must be bolted to the face of the hub. The only way that I would consider thinking about that would be by fitting a large 6 hole spacing ring. It would need to be very carefully machined and longer stronger bolts would be needed. My advice. STick with the standard as they are grand brakes as they are or buy full floating iron discs for the rr6/7 bike.
FWIW There are 2 sizes for that shape Blade. 300mm for RR5/6 and 320mm for RR6/7. I regularly switch between both on my RR6 track bike when switching to wets. You need to remove the calliper spacers to fit the smaller RR5/6 discs, but it's an option if you need discs badly?
You cannot fit 08 discs to an 07 without skimming some of the wheel as they are too wide to take them
