Physiotherapy milestones take many forms in encouraging the injured to keep striving in their recovery. First steps... Remembering your date of birth... Had a little moment of achievement myself yesterday... The missus wasn't happy.
I'd need to stick in 3rd and hope for the best mate. I certainly couldn't pull it in more than once...
Haha. Big Bruce (teapot1) used to ride around in third all the time. Just used the bike like a 120mph scooter
If you ever want to find out..there's one on my drive for you to test! Keep on clicking off the milestones!
You want some of these ken! Is what I used to strengthen my hand after I broke my collar bone had me back on the bike in no time
I have one of those spongy 'crush ball' things by my desk. Helps with the arhtritis. Can't squeeze it for toffee at present. Still got the grip of a girl (not one of the girls on here, obviously...) Generally though I'm please with the progress so far. I've always derided these wrist braces in the past but the support it's giving me is spot on. Full functionality right up to the point where damage can be done then it's 'Oh no you don't, chummy.' The elbow is progressing slower though. Still can't bear any weight much above a thick paperback, and it aches all the time.
I bought one of those years ago when my missus was in the middle of a fitness fad. It must be in the loft somewhere.
For fecks sake don't go climbing up there on them ladders to get it Two Broken elbows & wrists may leave Mrs Kpone more work on her hands than she anticipated this Xmas
You raise a valid point. I can barely de-cork her bottles now. If I can't open her wine at all, divorce could follow.
Well I took the bike out for a spin yesterday. Up to the parents and back, about a 10 mile round trip. It was wet. The bike got dirty... I am regretting it a bit this morning. Elbow is a little bit stiff, that's not too bad, but my wrist really isn't ready for clip-ons yet. I'm struggling with that one today. So back to the power ball... Oh, and when I got home, the bike refused to start when I went to put it away! I suspect it's because it got dirty.
Don't shy away from a bit of professional physio if necessary. They fixed my rogered shoulder when I dislocated it. Walked in unable to raise my arm past chest height and walked out an hour later able to raise it vertical like normal.
I've been struggling a bit with 30m rolls of paper at work so I knew it wasn't completely fixed yet, but I confess, I'm surprised at how uncomfortable it it today.
You tend to find that whenever you injure yourself like that and whatever part of you is subsequently immobilised to allow the healing, there normally follows a significant amount of muscle wasting due to lack of day-to-day use. Then when you press the wasted muscle into service doing something it hasn't done for a while it can tax it quite a lot. Daily exercises can help to build the muscles back up so it can accept the load and properly distribute it around the bones they're supposed to be policing.
