Just seen the schedule for next year, 3 rounds at brands, 2 at oulton and most surprising one at ASSEN!! Thought this was a british series, also no croft this year???? And why not use Mallory instead of going to brands 3 times, i know its a narrow circuit but always got good racing there! G
This is purely Dr J Palmer and MSVR being greedy ... on the surface they say they want to reduce the cost of racing at this level, however they then introduce; a) a foreign round ... I'd love to know what the smaller teams think of the additional logistics of travelling to Assen. b) a desire to have 16 2 bike teams ... to make it look "more professional". As someone who has been around the BSB paddock for a good few years and has been involved with 4 or so privateer teams ... they are slowly forcing the small teams out in favour of the bigger budget spenders, thus making it harder for the smaller teams. While I will enjoy the 3 Brands rounds (it's my local circuit) ... it would be nice to see the British Championship remain in Britiain and spread more evenly around all the various circuits of Britiain. Croft / Mallory ... even have 2 Snettertons or 2 Cadwells ... BSB is heading towards becoming a purely money making business for MSVR and Palmer and is slowly heading the way of MotoGP/F1 or even football for that matter. Mark my words ... tickets will slowly increase in price from the current £30 for the weekend towards the prices that MotoGP demand ... sure they won't get there ... but this is all about the money. Ask anyone in the BSB paddock what they think of Palmer and MSVR and you'll get a negative response. Indeed at the Tommy Hill championship podium at the final round at Brands Palmer was boo'd when he appearred ...
Agree with everything Beefy has said, 3 Brands Rounds...Joke 2 Oulton Park Rounds...Jokey Joke Assen instead of going to new UK Tracks like Anglessey or bishopscourt...A joke worthy of Live At The Apollo.
Quote by British Beefy- "BSB is heading towards becoming a purely money making business for MSVR and Palmer and is slowly heading the way of MotoGP/F1 or even football for that matter. You got it in one, the same reason they have gone to Assen, TV rights and money, as reported by "More crap than news" The TT Circuit Assen is considered the most historic motorcycle racing circuit in the world, having hosted the premier class World Championship every year since 1949 and it is acknowledged as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling. With the appeal of BSB expanding beyond the UK with International riders, worldwide television coverage and World Championship pedigree teams, this is a natural progression for the championship to have visibility in Continental Europe yet remaining accessible to the legions of British BSB fans. MONEY FOR THE PROMOTERS
Surely Anglesey is Wales' answer to Phillip Island? Am I missing something, or is the track not up to hosting a BSB round? Also, if they want to travel, why not do what the BTCC boys used to do and pop over to one of the Irish circuits (Mondello Park)? Brands is one of the closer circuits for me & is a great bike track, but 3 rounds? Really!!
