Left work like normal at 4:45pm on friday and a mile into my journey the engine started making an odd whining noise. I went to stop (as you would) and before I stopped the bike cut out. Took my lid and gloves off and tried to start it and nothing but rattles Phoned the RAC at 5:15pm and they said aproximatly 3hrs for someone to come out Bearing in mind it was -5 degrees. Got a phonecall about an hour later from the RAC bloke saying he was there, where was I? The sent him to the wrong place!! 15 miles up the road Got put back to the bottom of the list and Finally got picked up at 9pm. Today was a mad rush day as the 2 bikes are my only form of transport and the blades MOT ran out today!! Finally got the blade MOT'd. had to tax it online as all the post offices close at 12pm round here on a saturday. Im not too pissed off about the CX500 being broken, Just pissed off that i will be forced to ride the blade just as the real winter is hitting us. Salt everywhere with threats of snow and - temperatures every day let alone night! Just a little rant from me.
my commute is 21 miles each way. By the time i find something and get it taxed, insured ect winter will be over. Will just look into getting a little 125 or something for next year. Although I have seriously been thinking about buying one of those Honda NC700's for an all round commuter bike.
Gutting mate . Real bad luck !! Just keep on top of cleaning the salt off till you get something sorted and the Blade will be fine
Cranckshaft spins but camshafts dont. Possible, Likely cam chain faliure. I am seriously tempted by the 80mpg from the NC700. The fule saving would mean the bike would have 100% paid for itself after 6 years. It would save me aproximatly £1000 a year on fule. Fair enough in 6 years it will have 80000 miles on the clock, But who cares? Its a low reving low power honda. With an oil and filter change every 4000 miles it will do that easily.
I'd have a word with the RAC mate. That's bloody terrible service, especially at -5 degrees. The least you should get is a cheap renewal!!!
Thats proper crap service is that blue. I could be missing the point, but why not get a car for winter?
Gutted for you. Get loads of ACF on it, wash it and should be fine. I use my 929 all year round and it stayed ok considering.
I went to the new Kawasaki launch on Thursday night with a mate who's seriously thinking of the NC700. I was gearing up to take the piss when I saw it but have to admit it looks okay and with an excellent riding position. We're going to book test rides in the spring, him with a view to buy but me just for a proof of concept thing.
I dont drive mate. Ive done a few lessons in the past and I hate it! How can you get good at something you hate doing?
