Covering the front of your blade with bugs and critters is a good sign of a decent thrash on a warm dry day, but how long do you leave them on there before you clean them off? I heard they have acidy juice in em that damages your paintwork is this a myth? Anyone got a secret formula for getting them off? I just use soapy water to soak for a few mins then a bit of elbow grease... Don't s'pose this will be an issue for a few months now but was wondering if I'm alone enjoying leaving them on there as a reminder of that last decent blast through the countryside
Wet some kitchen roll and stick it to the nose of your bike. Leave for a few mins and those bug splats come off with ease. Works great for you helmet visor too great for if you can't give your bike a full clean after your ride. I hate leaving bug splats on my bike for to long
Mines currently covered and has been for about 4 weeks now, i hate cleaning bikes lol. Cant say ive noticed it damage the paint, I just find the longer they are on the harder it is to remove them. Ive been using poorboys bug squash before a wash, spray it on and a few minutes later you can pretty much watch them dissolve leaving weird colour streaks of bugs guts dripping over the lights.
I wash them of regularly. On trips abroad, I wash them off regularly - at petrol stations there is usually some sort of sponge set up for cars to wash their windscreens - just quickly use that. Also use wax on the panels, including the screen - this may help protect and make it easier to clean - but not sure. I remember a trip to Norway on the Triumph, came back after not cleaning it the whole trip - apart from some riding in the rain. The screen was never the same after that trip - it never cleaned up nice and clear again after that trip. So now use wax and make sure to clean the bugs off regularly.
Same here. I normally clean the bike for 10-15min after each ride depending on how dirty it is. At the same time you checking things too..
Clean off after every ride with muc off speed polish leave for a min then wipe off has a slight wax in it so easy for a quick wipe off rather than a full wash every time ...
I heard they have acidy juice in em that damages your paintwork is this a myth?
Not a myth. My son's car is testament to it. Seagull poo has permanently damaged the paint on his bonnet. Best washed off ASAP.
Clean up after every ride with Muc-Off spray polish were needed & use soapy water with a slightly wet mutton cloth to clean the front screen. Every few months I give my bike a full wax using Mer Deep Gloss Finishing Wax to protect the paint
