Currently I've got a scorch exhaust on my 2004 CBR1000RR. It's got baffles in it. I'm sure it's louder than stock, but it's still very tame.

I'd like a louder exhaust for lane splitting. I want the cars to have NO TROUBLE hearing me coming through.
But when I'm not lane splitting I'd prefer to turn the noise down or off, so I can use my bluetooth helmet headset and also not disturb anyone unnecessarily.

I'd like to fit something like this on my

What I like about it is it's an all-in-one product. It will look and sound legal when it's in "quiet mode".
I've emailed them asking if they have a suitable muffler. Will let you know.

There are cheaper hack kits like this on eBay

So it would be possible to keep the existing exhaust, and then have a straight bypass pipe that also exits at the back of the bike. Only problem with that is either there would just be a random looking pipe exiting at my bike next to the exhaust, making it very obvious I have a straight pipe. Or I would need 2 mufflers, which is unnecessary weight and bulk.

I've read a review somewhere where a cop pulled a guy over for noise with a varex muffler. He flipped the switch, and then the cop was like "WTF?" and let him go.

I actually had an idea to build something like this, before I knew such kits existed. Probably after watching top gear and hearing them say some supercar has it.
