I know what I want, and at the right price jessops is back online and a few stores

But if I buy a camera from then what protection do I have if they go tits up?

    Any idea before I buy?

Your warranty is always with the manufacturer. Your agreement with the vendor is for them to provide you with an item that's fit for purpose. If you keep your receipt and fill out and return your warranty form that comes with the camera, if you have a problem, return to the manufacturer.

I bought a camera from John Lewis at Christmas and the picture quality was awful. Rather than traipse back to Lewis and explain to them that everything was working but, from my experience, I was expecting superior images, I just threw it back at Fuji. They put in a new lens and got it back to me in a week. Of course, that one was faulty too, so it had to go back again, but it was them with whom the onus lay. So by all means, if possible, return a problem to the vendor to sort on your behalf, but if they're not there anymore, it doesn't mean you're high and dry.

    +1.
They have reopened 6 stores, plus the website, and plan to grow the store count to 30 cutting out the loss making stores.
