Just saw in Fast Bikes October mags technical section (Page 92), an article where a reader (Peter) has wrote in asking if he changed the rear tyre size from a 50 to a 55 section, would it affect his C-ABS system on his Blade. Fast Bike contacted Honda technical and their answers were interesting; They stated that altering the tyre size could interfere with the swingarm and also possible affect the bike's stability (Not sure about either of those) mine doesn't touch the swingarm or caused any stability issues. But more worrying is this part; It will screw up the C-ABS system! Apparently, the slight difference in the outer circumference size will throw out the pre-set ABS maps. The system will have got inaccurate reading from the different tyre size and this will cause the system to not work correctly. They also said that Honda was very clear on this and wanted them to stress the importance of using the correct profile tyre!
Nahhhhh I m having none of that..... got 55 Sports Smarts on my 2011 Repsol no issues at all !! Don't Believe everything you read.....many on here run 55 s
Mine has run on 55 for over a year without any issues as well , well apart from the normal issues with the C-abs system which i've now sorted. Just posted the info up for people to see, didn't say I believed it
PMSL reading Hondas response, maybe they should start concerning themselves with the fact the the brake lever can come back to the bar when you try to brake from 70mph on a C-ABS, I would suggest thats a more worrying issue than a tyre profile question, funny how they do not seem to want to confront that issue. Its sickening to think it may take the death of a rider before they take this issue seriously.
Laughed at this myself! Been running a 55 for a while now and have tested the C-ABS out a number of times on wet roads, gravel and even grass! No myther on any and it stops with no drama.
