Hi all, not wishing to reignite the ABS debate, I was looking to see if anyone had any recent experience of having this done by a dealer. I am aware it involves considerable time and expense (another debate entirely), and have been quoted £430 by Grantham Honda. I would also like to add that I have not experienced any of the issues that some owners have had re ABS brakes and value the safety they bring me on the road, and am very happy with the bike generally. I am at this point as I have owned the bike for 4 years and the owners manual indicates a 2 yearly change (felt this to be a little conservative as I am not someone who regularly wrings it's neck and felt it was okay to leave). I cannot afford to "upgrade" to the 2017 onwards model (which has the much less complex Bosch system) and would struggle to justify the cost to change (£8000+?). Anyone had it done at Grantham Honda? or any dealer where you have been satisfied with the results? Cheers in advance. p.s, have looked at DIY but looking at the comprehensive advice on the forum it is way beyond my confidence/skill level
I had my old abs blade done by the local dealer in 2017. It wasn't due but the brake failure was cropping up again. They had it several days trying to get it fixed including full brake fluid change. They charge me just under £300 and included the MOT in that.
By the way...I was told that the dealers have the process down to 3hrs now. So I guess if you x that by whatever Honda charge per hour plus sundries and vat maybe your quote is about right
Thanks for the reply Lozzy. I'm pretty much resigned to the cost, more concerned about their ability to do a good job. I guess I have trust issues
