just booked for an open pit lane trackday with no limits at cadwell on 26th march . done 3 open pitlane days at cadwell ,first 2 no problem ,but on the last one there were quite a few racers practicing , who showed me how slow i am. so i have decided to grow some cahonies this year and get on that throttle much earlier and use the revs , gears and brakes some more ,as i tend to go fast down the straights and let the bike slow down into corners without using the brakes .
Bummer, i could take a sledge. Maybe they will cancel and you get a refund? I dunno what the T's & C's say.
nah ... i am hoping it goes ahead as long as the track is clear. at least i should have a soft landing in the snow if i come off. i am more worried that i may have to buy some tyres,as my bike is on slicks at the moment , and slicks and cold tracks do not mix too well.
got no limits on wifes facbook still on for tues but mondays off CADWELL PARK - TOMORROW IS CANCELLED - 25/03/13 It has been decided to press for a decision earlier and it has been decided to CANCEL tomorrows trackday, However the circuit tell us there planning to run Tuesdays trackday (if no more snow falls tomorrow) I will obviously keep you informed as we always do. No Limits Trackdays CADWELL PARK ... Yes I regrettably have to inform you as of 10minutes ago, again it's been decided to cancel it on the grounds of safety as the snow on the run offs has frozen and not clearable. Apologies for the inconvenience (a all too common post lately!) Again I remind you that we offer all customers a full credit refund with no admin charges sorry guys cancelled.......
bugger... i had just about finished swapping my rear slick for a tyre more suited to cold weather , had to swap it back again. could have been worse , the 2 lads i was going with, spent all morning loading the bikes and car up ready for the set off.
I'm not surprised I live bout 15 mins from Cadwell and its not good up there, the main road was closed on sat and alot of the side roads still aren't great mainly due to drifting snow
Not good but understandable. The trackday organisers are getting hit in the wallet quite hard at the mo with this shite weather
they are supposed to be for experienced trackday users , there is no slow or medium ,just a fast group . as soon as you have done your 3 sighting laps ,you can stay out on track for as long as your arms can take the pain of heavy braking . you would have to feel confident enough to have done fast group sessions in the past ,as a lot of racers use these days for bike set up / practice for racing. I am by no means the slowest rider on them , but i still get passed like i am stood still by some riders that are obviously setting their bikes up for the following weeks race.
a mate of mine comes with us on the open pit lane days ,and to be honest he really shouldnt be on them ,as he needs more speed to keep out of peoples way.(it might also help a bit if he didnt go grass tracking every time we do cadwell, we call him flymo as he spends so much time on the infield) but you tend to find that as you have all day to play, there are less riders on track at any one time so it is a bit safer in that way, although i got hit up the arse end last time by someone that missed his braking point .
Agreed you get a lot of people on open pit lane that shouldn't be there. Makes it quite dangerous at times and it amazes me the organisers let them stay out on the track. On the other hand I love open pit days, you prob don't ride much more than a normal day but as you can go out when you like for as long as you like its just a better day.
LOL I should of been called that when I went pembrey last year! It was raining the day before so how I kept it upright on the wet grass I'll never know. Did he do much damage to you and the bike? I'll have to give the open pit lanes trackdays a go once I get quicker. Was going to a have a go in the inters sometime this year to see how I get on.
i managed to stay upright .. i was just about to tip into the chicane when i heard the screech of brakes so i thought sod this i am going across the grass, i felt his bike hit mine and looked back to see him sliding along on his arse. i went to see him in the pitlane to see if it was owt to do with my riding , but he said he just went in too hot, and apologised. his bike was a right mess, fairing , rearsets, bars etc all trashed, mine just had a bent end can and a bit of fibreglass gelcoat split on the seat unit, i was not bothered as it is a track bike with a terrible paint job ,so it has given me an excuse to buy a new fairing set. the thing that peed me off most ,is that i had just removed my rear facing camera the session before ,so missed recording it.
And its precisely that sort of plum that puts people of trackdays. Glad your reactions allowed you to escape unscaved.
