On commute home last night had a loud pop .I thought I had run over a drink bottle or something (I was watching a taxi all over the place andon his phone). Bike ran fine rest of trip no high temp or power loss . Got home parked it kit off then put her up on the paddock stands and optimate on and oil over side of fairing quick look and noticed front left cam half moon of gasket poped out. I strippd bike cleans refitted and checked levels breathers ECT all fine ride in ok this morning and after 13 miles it' popped again. Being in garage till 2 am for nothing is not helping my mood.

Wow, that's a major pain in the butt.

You'll probably finish it just in time for a rainy Sunday:(.

New stator fitted battery has been on optimate and it started fine. I'e now striped off tank air box and flaps injectors the coolant drained and rad is off . I'l Chuck some paint on it as it' not enjoyed the snow. I'l replace it when I can afford. Cam gasket is arriving Tuesday or Wednesday so I'll rebuild when it gets here. Bloody bottom rad mount snapped off sump so I'll try some instant metal to fix before I source another sump.

Far Canal ...state of that old stator

    Sounds like it's progressing well.
Keep the pcs coming, I like things like this not the misfortune to others, but the strip down and insight into stuff we don't normally see.

Just got it all back together. And run up. Going to have some tea and let it cool down and I'll check the fluids and do a test run then body work back on and hopefully she' ready to go.

Ok so did a 4 mile test and no fluid leaking and temp fine. Checked fluid level and ok so rest of the fairing back on . I always like to check check and check again when I've had a rad off. I chucked some paint at the rad as it looked terrible but realise due to fin damage I need a new one. Cam cover didn' leak so hope all ok for tomorrow and when new gasket does get here I'll change it when I do valve clearances.

Well done on the cam cover.

Perhaps you'll consider a rad guard when you install your new rad? About 75 quid inc VAT.
