Popped out tonight to watch Everton v Man City, my local pub has just had a refurb by Greedy King, Meat and great showing all live football, great food blah blah blah. 9.30 pm the landlord called last orders!!!! at least 25 people in the bar Apparently last week the game went to extra time, everyone had to go elsewhere to watch it. Big recession in place and people that want to be able to spend cant. What a T**T
My local is a dump, it stinks, the drink is expensive and the music is loud. People dont go there til atleast 11 at night. Me and my mates have now got a tendency to drink in the house now
Our local is not local being about three miles away and full of numpties so we spend our evening drinking round our own open fire, plus the fridge/wine rack closes when we want. Far better idea IMO
My local is nothing fancy but the landladie is ok as is most of the locals. I may only go ones every few weeks/month but make sure the football is not on before I go in
In my village we have three pubs. One is Salmonella central one had the same, good landlord for years and about half a dozen in the three years since he left. The third was a real spit and sawdust, cider boys pub until it mysteriously burned down......twice, and then became a half decent eat in pub with an enthusiastic landlord and huge 100 seater dining room. Then one day last year we wandered in for an impromptu lunch out and saw about half a dozen punters. When we asked for a table for four we were told if you don't book in advance we can't just guarantee you a table. ?????????? Granted, I didn't help by comically scanning the deserted dining room and agreeing that it did look a bit tight, but Jeanette's mother was in the catering trade most of her working life and pointed out that if you were packed to the gunwales you'd put a cloth on a patio table to squeeze another four punters in, in a country pub on a Saturday lunch time. So now I go round Freedoms house of an evening. It's a bit of a schlepp but he does regular lock ins and he's got a big open fire.
one of my locals is extremely dangerous. Popped in saturday night, about 6pm, just for a couple hours. Left there at 4.30am sunday. It's about half hour walk. I was in a repsol t shirt, no jacket, and couldn't get a taxi, and it was freezing. Ended up on a settee. Mrs. blaggers wasn't impressed when I got back home about 9.00am. Needless to say i'm 'grounded'. Lol
Don't really have a local as such any more, maybe when the summer arrives we'll be more likely to go sit in a beer garden with the hound. But I only tend to frequent licensed premises if it's fir a meal or the start of a proper night out!
Very rarely bother i think this is due to being avoiding pubs over the last 40 years due to the amount of smoking and the stench of my clothes after an hour of drinking we have a pub near to me and i have been in there once since 1996 i even walk past every night (its not a shit hole either) if i want a drink we will go out for a meal and have a couple then otherwise take it or leave it.
With the price of beer more expensive per litre than petrol I don't use my local, I would always be thinking how many miles I could have done on the Blade with every mouthful
Don't do pubs anymore unless it's a meal or celebration/funeral.I love Brewers fayre grub/carvery. I prefer nights in unless on a friday night out training Aikido.Staying in is much better for me cos you don't have to drive home,it's unlimited and you haven't got the hassle of troublemakers. Not that I get any problems these days.As a family it's a no no.Would rather spend my money on my toys etc.
We have a great local - smashing barmaids and a good landlord. Has the football on - a darts team and karaoke on a Friday and a band on a Saturday. As we are locals now we get looked after and there is not ever any trouble as its all the same people there every week The local is important to me which is why I bought a house near a pub I knew had a decent reputation. That said we are lucky in Gosport as there are still loads of old traditional pubs serving a good quality ale albeit alot are now closing
Not really been out to a Pub since the smoking ban unless it is for a meal with the extended family when I am visiting Somerset. All pubs now smell of stale beer, B.O, and farts Another problem is I am a qualified Master Chef and the wife usually tells me that my cooking is generally better than the grub we get to eat in a restaurant so we usually stay in and I cook, she takes care of the 'afters' I can recommend a Bearded Clam for pudding. If no one has tried it you should
Now I know what that scratching noise is in the loft, I was thinking another rat had moved in, and why every time I go to the fridge the beers are all gone.
