Hi all, Doing some maintenance and have removed the rear disc and sprocket. The sprocket nuts and disc bolts are too light to be steel so I suspect they are titanium or aluminium. Only issue is that i'm not sure which torque settings to use when refitting as aftermarket aluminium are less? I guess the right answer is to buy new ones but I don't want to throw away some nice titanium fasteners if that's what I have. Anyone know of a non destructive way of figuring out if they are titanium or aluminium? Thanks, Paul
The titanium will be machined so a lot crisper edging to them and will look a lot better quality than the aluminum.
Looks titanium to me mate as sharper edging compared with the Ali ones I’ve seen, Google race bolt and have a look.
Cheers. I noticed when I was googling that m10 aluminium sprocket nuts in general take a 16mm socket and titanium take a 14mm. So happy that its titanium based on that and the quality comparison.
Titanium is generally a darker colour to aluminium looks similar to stainless, I would assume no one would put alloy bolts in discs
