Most do. It's in that small 6 x 4 box on the vertical section of the link pipe. It can be removed, but it ain't easy. I have one that's already been removed ?
Could do with getting that removed then and release the power that's being wiped out by it. When you say it's not easy, how hard exactly. Bare in mind I'm a mechanic so will be doing it myself. Wanna get her power commanded before too long.
Yeah, you gotta smash it out, but the metal matrix is a bit harder than ones I,ve done before.I used a long, big drill bit and a long chisel.
I did read, but dont know if its true, that removing cats has no effect on power. The theory being that the internal area of the cat is the same as the internal area of the open pipe; this is why the part of the system which houses the cat is fatter (to compensate). I read this on the tinterweb so it must be true.
If that was the case why do aftermarket pipe builder's Do away with it? I do know one thing and thats that they store some Amount of heat.when I used to come back from A run on my duke you could see them glowing red. When I removed them the increase in exhaust noise Was shocking
Well I've done two and both owners reported better throttle response and more power once fuelling adjusted. Even better with a hi flo air filter! I have one here if anybody wants to try one already done?
some helpful advice there guys, but i had a look at my exhaust and nothing obvious sticks out to make me think it has a cat
