    Hey All,

Joined the forum a few weeks ago after buying a 2002 954 as a project and I'm starting to wonder if I'm in over my head... Apart from being cursed with worlds worst custom spray job there are other problems. Paint is easy to sort out, but the motor has issues. Its smoking a lot (ring) and has scoring in the bores. Does anyone have first hand experience of rebuilding a 954 motor? I've looked at piston and ring kits and all I can find is oversized Wiseko and JE ones. Anyone know what these kits are like or how motors run with them in? Starting to think that this might be a bit much for me and might try to sell the old girl and look for something in my skill (or lack of) level...

    Thanks

Whats the mileage on her? Have you had the head off? And checked the wear? As she got service history & booklet ? Rings and pistons are easy if engine out on work bench. :)

Have U tore down the lump (removed the head) and found scored bores? or are you thinking they must be shaged due to smoking???
I,ve only seen 1 other 954 which was a smoky joe..............beleive it or not it was cured by Masterblader by balancing the throttle bodies!.Yes yes I thought the lump was surely shagged when riding behind the bike, it would smoke like hell once the rev's were high and on over run but nope...throttle bodies were miles out../...might be worth thinking about before you start getting in deep.
