Yes it is too good, I spoke to the dealer who is selling it for a friend of his, the guy has in excess of 250k worth of hondas in his garage he’s just bought a new sp2 so one bike had to make room and it’s this 04 blade, so very tempted can only see it increasing in money and I have a 20 yr plan if only we could look in to the future ha ha I did question why it has red decals on bellypan and under cbr, apparently the guy who bought it new had the belly pan changed by Honda from new as it should be painted silver with silver/grey decals and he didn’t like it in that colour so the dealership at the time got Honda to change it.
Wow. The red decals might not make it worth more, but it does make for interesting history. Further proof of how a fastidious owner treats his bikes. Appears to have original exhaust too, which to me, looks much better than many aftermarket end cans that protrude just too much from the seat cowl. If I wasn't 2 steps away from buying an MV F4 it'd already be sold!!
Does look mint. I was never keen on the schemes of the 04/05 model, I had a black 05 and the black belly panel on this looks much nicer. This is personal opinion and I don't want to upset anyone who owns one, but the 04/05 just never felt sorted to me. The 954 was a great bike and then the 04 came along and it felt like Honda had cut costs. The 06 was a much better bike to ride, but then it did have 120 odd changes if I remember correctly. It definitely felt a nicer bike to throw around.
I have lost count how many times I have wanted to call and leave a deposit on this bike, as an investment I think it will go up in price and certainly not drop in price as there is a few 04 models with a lot more miles and not in this completely standard trim as it came out of the shop. This era of bike are holding there money I remember my mate buying a 03 R1 first of the injection models 6 years ago for £3200 there still that now if not a little more with over 20k miles. I just know if I buy this blade there will be a 98 red white R1 turn up or a 94 urban tiger then I will kick myself
I don't think you'll lose money on it, but is it something that you'll want to keep and look after? Does it make you want to walk into the garage and give it a little caress.
I am now building a man cave to take 6 bikes purely for in vestment if I buy this 04 it won’t see the road again while I own it and yes I think I could sit in the shed and just look at it and give it a polish now and again and start her up every few weeks
Yes but would a 98 R1 or a urban tiger get me a better return and I could easily sit and look at them ha ha
I'm hearing a proverb called 'A bird in the hand . . .' If the R1 or Tiger don't come up, you've lost a good opportunity. Sometimes we have to be impulsive (except for marriage)!!
Yes, well, speaking of impulsive. . . In the midst of confirming a time with seller to view the bike. I'm hoping for this weekend. Gotta do a five-hour trip from West Midlands to Glasgow! It's such a great bike though. I feel like Richard Gere when he saw Julia Roberts for the first time in 'Pretty Woman'. Like Richard, I might be messing with forbidden fruit, and could be in for a 'rough ride', but I'm attracted by beauty and mystique. (BTW, where's Lozzy?)
Blimey, must be love. I've been looking at Duke 749, 999 and 848's. Need to stop, don't think my life is ready for another Italian yet.
I'm afraid I'm more like Magda in There's Something About Mary Hey....how about that for a name for your possible new purchase MV Magda! (Just don't think of the balcony scene)
