This is the damage my knee slider did to my RR8 Fireblade's frame when I high sided coming out of lodge corner at Oulton Park a few weeks ago.

Its the only mark on the frame which is otherwise straight and true with no cracks or creases so I m fairly confident its just cosmetic damage.

Has anybody any experience at assessing frame damage or know of any companies that specialise in this work ?

Please no unhelpful replies like "yeah that's gone that has mate you need to change it" without something factual to back up the statement as otherwise there is no value or confidence taken from the reply. Cheers for any help or advice that can be offered.

I think that should be fine mate. Check your wheel alignment to see if anything is out or get looked at by a professional

Cheers Dan wheel alignment is a very good suggestion.

Unfortunately not possible at the moment as broken collar bone and wearing a sling post op for 3 weeks but will do asap as soon as I have 2 working arms.

    cheers for your help mate.

Your frame will be fine mate as they are designed to take a lot of impact/stress etc. But if a insurance assesor looks at it he would consider the bike a write off. So make sure you have some nice shiney frame protectors on it when it comes to trade in time :)

Agree with the above comment regarding trade in etc, but do you really want to do that ? To effectively commit fraud by misrepresentation ...... I am not an expert on frames or the damage to them, but whether cosmetic or not (likely to be cosmetic as said), it will need to be fixed and getting that crease out i doubt will be easy or cheap, but it needs doing. Covering it up with stickers is not the way and a dealer could have a case against you should it be discovered after the deal is done.

Any bike i would buy would have every and all stickers, protectors etc removed, stickers are the oldest trick in the book.

    Where are you based?

4th dimension/Farnham Honda can sort that right out no problem.

Also are you sure it wasn't your handlebars which did that? Check lock stops are intact

    Very good comment, cheers mate.

Just checked and to far away from bars for them to have done it and lock stocks are intact. I m not 100% sure it was my knee slide but they are the only thing in that immediate area that has the potential to do that type of damage. My leg must have twisted with some force as I also snapped some integral metal heel guards on my ses rearsets. It's not been in contact with the track as no gravel rash on the frame and the 3 points of contact the bike did make with the tarmac kept the frame well of the floor.

Hi RR8, sorry to hear this.....may I ask what other impact points there were, you mention there was no other frame damage, so was this limited to just plastics etc? Also, did you have frame/engine protectors on it...i'm sure you can see where i'm going with this.

Also, i'm sure you have it in hand but if you did need any plastics In winning red I may be able to help out.
