morning all just a quick one , what are your thoughts on just replacing the chain on a 13 plate with 1800 miles the sprockets seem fine but standard chain looks crappy with rust , tried cleaning but cant shift it ,and which make of chain ? thanks for any info.

My chains generally last me about 20 - 25k

They need regular cleaning and maintenance, otherwise they'll rust up.

I think my last one was a Gold DID X ring. I've not put one on this bike yet...

Just replaced my Tsubaki after 12000 miles. Given that milage I would think it will be ok just changing the chain. Make sure you inspect the sprockets before you put a new chain on though.

gosh 1800 miles only! not matter what you fit it will end up the same way.
If it is surface rust, then give it a good clean (toothbrush and kerosene/ diesel) and a good lube. After a 3~4 riding/ lubing sessions the chain may be back to normal.
If the lube inside the rollers have gone, then you may have to replace it (don't forget the sprocket). I would go for RK. but each has his/her preference
