I've always used castrol chain wax after cleaning my chain but Honda only had Wurth high performance dry chain lube, so I bought a can and will clean the chain with paraffin before I apply it? Is it any good and how do you guys use it?

It really is good mate. A bit unnerving to start with as it doesn't look like you've put anything on it, it's so light and clear. The only downside is the small can, especially as Jeanette thought my last can would be ideal for her bicycle, and you only really get one lube job out of one.

I usually melt the crud off it with Wurth Chain and Brake cleaner, using the solvent and the pressure of the spray up close. Give it a good rub off with an old towelling sock then spray on the lube. Last time I got some cleaner on the tyre, like a twat so I made up a mask out of an old sheet of litho plate and slid it flush to the hub so any balls up hits that instead.

Once used, you wont buy anything else.

Apply when chains warm, after a ride and just spray and wipe on.

Never occurred to me to do it to a warm chain, makes perfect sense. It's one of those jobs I always do on the days I can't ride it, usually staring out of the garage door at the rain. Thanks Matt.

I've just ordered the muc-off Chain chain doc kit and the Wurth 500ml dry chain lube from demon-tweeks.

I'd cancel the muc-off chain doc kit and spend the money on a tub of paraffin and a small paint brush.
