Ok most guys have their own way and own preference in lubes and degreasers Chain degreasers that dont affect o-ring life is a little expensive here in SA and I've read and heard some guys use liquid paraffin to degrease their chains. Its a sight cheaper than chain degreasers and I have a few litres of the stuff but Im sceptical. Has anyone used liquid paraffin to clean their chains?
I always use paraffin to clean my chain mate. Use a soft paintbrush to remove all dirt and grease, wipe off with old towel, remove paraffin with brake cleaner. Spin chain with wheel off ground on paddock stand. When completely dry, all degreaser evaporated, spray with ptfe chain lube.
Anytime mate, happy to help. I use Brake cleaner coz it doesn't attack the brakes seals like some other degreasers and it evaporates. I use Muc Off PTFE lube every 200 miles when chain is still hot and cleani t once a month. Good luck with yours.
I ahve a feeling that Honda's user manuals actually recommend paraffin for cleaning chains. I have a Scotoiler fitted myself so never have to clean the chain
