Someone I know on a forum is selling the vfr400 he bought last year as a track bike project.
He's now selling it as be needs some cash and I can have it for £500.
I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow.
Here's the info copied from the forum.
Question is do you think it's worth it ????

OK so gonna sell my track bike project.

    VFR400 NC30.
V5 in my name so could be MOT'd, taxed and put back on road.
    HPI Clear
    No speedo so unknown mileage
    Full track fairings
When I bought it end of last summer started and rode fine now smoking or anything suspect
I stripped if down with intention of sort choke issue so carbs off and tank off, so can't be seen running.

Selling in an attempt to try and avoid selling the R1. I have to let this go.

    Things it needs:
Carb's serviced or replaced Choke doesn't turn off seems to stick
    Air Filter
    Oil Filer
    Oil
    New rear braided line
    New brake pads
Free off rear brake as binds on from where it's sat.

Apart from the above she is ready to ride on track.

I think it depends on what you want out of it. Would you be purchasing as a track bike or to convert back to road use ? Used spares come up a lot on eBay but OE items are now being discontinued and are expensive. David Silver spares are good at locating bits and CMS (NL) have good stock. The smoking bit is a concern though.

Thats not sounding to good on info.
The time and money to get it on the road around 250 to 350 depending on the smoke colour? And a none runner is off limits, if you dont No the seller. id leg it

    Think he meant not smoking.
Not sure what I'd use it as, I'm 6'5" so wouldn't be riding it. Poss just a project to do I dunno lol

The smoking might be from the chocke but its not starting so its a hard one, your not gonna make money on it fixing it up

me and best mate own Nc30's and will have a few parts kicking about if in need but for some reason this doesn't sound too appealing
18" rear wheel remember so tyre choice is very limited bt090's or 92's are what most use ..... i do have an NC35 rear wheel fresh black powder coated which is 17" that i'd possibly sell as it's a spare

i'd say you'd want to upgrade rear sets at your height and if thats original shock it might not be too clever either ?

for a track bike your a bit big for it tbh (had an nc29,got an fzr 4/6 atm).they are awesome bikes though and pull like trains, and tbh if the engine is sound it's worth more in parts.

gonna cost a bit to get back on the road though,loom/lights/fairings etc.

have a look on • Index page for info and parts.
