    Hi All,

Had new pads fitted around 500 miles ago took it easy for the first 50 as recommended to bed the pads in however over the last few days I've had to anchor up a few times due to knobbers in Taxis thinking I am invisible and turning right in front of me and I noticed this morning then when applying the front brake now I am getting chatter from the front end. It's not massive but it wasn't there before so in having to grab a handful a couple of times this week have I caused some uneven wear on the pads? I am assuming that this is what is causing the chatter as the front end almost seems to bounce a bit now when coming to a stop. I use my rear brake at the same time too when coming to a complete stop and generally front on its own when I want to scrub off a bit more speed.

If it is uneven wear is the best way to fix it to ride and keep applying the front brake every few minutes to try to get the pads to wear back to an even level? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated?

My bike is a non abs 09.

Thanks dude useful thread that one I'll give the discs a good scrub at the weekend as I have some brake cleaner to see what happens could be a good chance that the discs could be warped.

    Nick,

IMO Slicks advice is in the right direction, I had my discs straightened a few weeks back, and they were only out by small tolerences, I was still getting some brake squeal/noise, but there was an improvement, after cleaning the bobbins as shown, which I found that they were locked solid, afterwards there was a massive improvement.

Do not be put off having lock the bolt and nut up tight, I went a bit easy on the first one, and got no movement, after that I went for broke and the amount of crud that came out of each seating was eye watering, you can then see how easy it is for judder, warping to occur, there is no expansion tolerance at all when they are locked solid.

If you took it too easy running in the new pads they may be glazed. If they are gazed you could try "decking" them on fine emery placed on glass. When re-running them in build up gently but also give a good handful after a few miles.
